I have a 7-95 240sx SE and would like to know why my car is so different then other ones.I have bought a few parts for it already and they have been wrong.Like I bought a cluster from a 96 and it has less plugs on the back then what mine did.

Thanks,
Chris

You're probably OBD1. S14s switched from OBD1 to OBD2 midway through the 95 model year.

Yeah thats what I have been told.Does that make it hard to get parts? Do iahve to get parts only for OBD1?

Thanks,
Chris

How do you tell if you have OBD1 or OBD2?
Thanks,
Chris

Incorrect.

The '95 and '96 clusters are the same. You must have gotten a later model ('97-'98). The early ones have an overlapped tach/speedo, later models are both round and don't overlap. There's four plugs on the later model, three on the early.

There were no production changes other than the hood cowl, headlights, and a few random parts being redone with new numbers, the parts fit the same and crossover though between 1995 and 1996. Some late '95 autos have a 3wire front O2 sensor, but it's rare.

There is NO OBD-II 1995 model. Period. If the GST plug is beside the console, under the glovebox, the car is OBD-I, period. OBD-II cars have the GST plug beside the hood release. We've discussed this more times than seat swaps, there's no need to still be confused.

The early models have 4 plugs and not 3.I got a cluster from a 97 I guess and it has 3 plugs, I got 2 clusters from 95s and they have 4 plugs, same as what my 7-95 has.So when information like that is being thrown out it does get confusing.

Well mine is rare then, I have a 3 wire O2 sensor.

Thanks,
Chris
