So I finally get my insurance check in the mail today and I called up the body shop to get details and whatnot. They said to save money, the insurance company would only pay for an aftermarket "OEM style" bumper (it saved like 40 bucks:rolleyes:.) The lady said it's the same thing that is on my car right now and that she didn't know what company made it. She said the body shop uses these all of the time for other cars. Does anyone have any info on these "OEM style" bumpers?
**kinda wierd how they wouldn't pay full price for a new bumper, yet they gladly coughed up $250 for the new lip.

tell them it's not acceptable... or if they are going to buy an Aftermarket bumper that YOU want to choose it.

Alright, so I called them back. I was also informed I'm getting a reman/used headlight. I said I wanted only OEM Nissan parts. They told me I would have to pay the difference out of my own pocket. The difference in the cost of the bumper is $40 like I said earlier. But the difference for the new headlight is close to $130. I think I'm going to call MY insurance company tomorrow and get this shiznut straightened out. Thanks sykik.

Bull****! You take that money and do whatever you want with it.
You can spend it on crack and ductape the front of your car if you feel like it.
Tell the insurance company to eat our your ass hole if they don't like it

I hate insurance companies

I hate insurance companies

Agreed!! There are a few things though. If you still owe money on the car, then they have to restore it to its original condition, whether that be with OEM or aftermarket parts. They should replace it with OEM parts at your request and you should(?) be able to take them to court on that, as long as you had an OEM bumper to start with.

I had to deal with the insurance company before, not fun at all!!!

Note the time that I posted that. I don't think many insurance companies are open at 1am.

You might want to see if you can find the insurance laws or ordinances for your state. In Texas, whenever I make a claim - they send you some think telling you your rights. It lists things like selecting where your car is repaird, choosing what parts go on it, etc. Something in writing like that is your best bet for arguing. Good luck - this stuff is never fun.

Does anyone know the exact prices for a Super Black Bumper cover, Hood, Lip, and passenger side headlight assembly? I'm thinking about just buying them from a dealer and fixing my car myself over spring break, I called the body shop today and canceled the order for the shi tty "OEM Style" parts, so right now I have a check for $1500. The quote was $1600 and only $800 was parts. Does that sound about right for the painted items I need?
