ok, well the cost of the car is $2700, it comes with redtop SR20DET, but it has a cut harness, no ignitor chip and no stock intercooler. but it has a new paintjob on it (just a few weeks old). it also doesn't come with a MAFS, but the guy claims you can use the one from the stock ka24e, is this true? anyways, here are the pics

sounds like a pretty good deal too me.. check the compression on that Sr20 before agreeing though.. and check for rust...

those parts you mentioned aren't too terribly hard to find..

those parts you mentioned aren't too terribly hard to find.. car is free of rust, but how do i do a compression test on the engine? anyways, ya i priced out all those parts on ebay, might cost me an extra 600 to get the parts. what else will i need? hoses and stuff? downpipe, etc?

Like he said: compression tests are your friend.

Also, your bro needs to find some new hosting. I'm on a T3 and those are slow.

What's the full condition of the chassis? mileage?

Cut harness... ehhh, I've seen harnesses around, jspec and phase2 have both had them. Ignitor chip is a Q45 part, and you're correct that the KA24E MAF is compatible with the SR. Intercooler, get aftermarket!

So the SR isn't physically in the car, right?

I dunno. It seems like it might be worth it... depends. Cut harness/incomplete SR = $1500. So a high-mileage fastback shell with no engine and new paint... is that worth $1200 to you?

Get the fuel below a quarter tank and boost.

Hahahaha, I'd go for it. That's a sweet deal.

115k? and the engine's in the car? Then I'd say you're getting a good deal. The grunginess of the KA made me think 200+.

You might be able to find an ignitor for less than $250. There are a bunch of ignitors from US-spec cars that are compatible except for the connector.

dude, that's a steal.

when I got my 1st 240, I payed 3700 for it, you're getting a heck of a deal. Hell, it'd be a heck of a deal w/o the SR considering the new paint. Just make sure you come to the understanding that you'll need 1500-2200 or so to get it going like it should be... as long as you factor that in up front, you should be a damn happy camper!

'96+ Q45 plugs right in.
older Q45s need a little wiring. Pulsar NX SE, 300ZX NA, and J30 ignitors will work too.

A quick search on car-part.com shows them going for $90 and less!

Search freshalloy in the 240SX Advanced forum with "Q45 ignitor"; all your answers are there.

Yes, I would buy that. If you don't, give me the contact info.
