the cams aren't that agressive, by rough idle do u mean it jumps around?

It really sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak or an exhaust leak.
IF, you should, need to, have to, reset the timing.
Set up the timing light on the ignitor pickup.
Start the engine, wait until it is at operating temp
Disconnect the TPS sensor while the engine is running
make sure the idle is between 750 and 1200.
Set the timing to 15degrees btdc.
Write me if you have any other questions.

You sound like you know what you are talking about, I have a redtop sr20 all stock for the most part, for some odd reason it will not idle with the air filter off of the MAF sensor, but the car drives and builds boost perfectly, and then if i put an air filter on the MAF the car idles fine but when i give it gas it won't rev over 3000rpm and starts makin a BAP BAP BAP sound it sounds exactly like honda 2 step, i dunno what the deal is, could it be my MAF sensor is fucked up? please let me know if you have any ideas thank you
Sounds like with the air filter off, you are not bending the pipe by the maf so it is staying sealed.. just not idling right probably because of the open pipe.
With the filter attached, you are probably bending the pipe, causing it to leak worse, the symptom you described is a NO MAF situation.
Post a picture of your engine bay with the filter attached?
Maybe move around the afm and pipe while the engine is running and see if it effects the way the car idles?
