i agree 100% with crimsonrockett, that thing needs A LOT of attention. Find a car and do that stuff yourself. Plus thats part of the fun! building a car to YOUR liking.

i think it depends on the "whole bunch of little stuff"... if the list is long, then forget it... but $3500... not bad for a car with motor already in it... depends on how much spare time and money you have to spend on piecing it together....

Buyings someone's project is not a good idea 90% of the time.

buy it, and part it out ASAP, make money off the part out, buy another car.

If you want to buy a project car that's what your going to get. It's definitely a good deal if your a DIY'er. If you want something you can drive right away and don't know what your doing you will end up spending probably more money to end up getting it running, Custom driveshaft and wiring harness can get pretty pricey With all the other stuff your looking at spending $2,500 or so low estimate $3500+2,500=$6000 all said and done just to get it running. Only you can decide if it's worth it for you.

Unless you know for sure the work on the car was done correctly and with care pass on it. No sense in wasting your time with someone else's would be problem.

i bet u just want it cuz it has a "omg skyline" motor in it.
pass on that shit.
unless u have lots of time, you can buy it and sell it in pieces and make profit.

its basically an rb25... and an s14 shell.
i think its worth the money, but of course this car is a full fledged build.

you'll probably take the motor out and paint / prep the whole car and engine.

How long has he had it for sale?
If he can't sell it low ball he's ass. $2.5K
Work your way up from there if needed.
Your 17. Do you have the knowledge and/or $$$ to get this car running properly?
If so, do it. Worst case scenario you can't get it running, part it out
get your money back and some.
WIN WIN

Well here is my story.... I did my own swap on my 240sx. Keep in mind I am pretty mechnically inclined in general cause of years of motorcycle racing. Well I did my own swap, thing ran perfect no problems.

Fast forward 4 years later.... My friend wanted me to do his swap but I was in grad school at the time, so 2 years later, I am done with grad school and the car was sitting at a friend's shop pretty much the same condition as this car. It was worked on the first 6 months then dumped for the 1.5 years. Motor was in the car, well found out turbo is gone. Then I have to redo all the wiring and figure some problems with gauges and wiring harness to see what was hacked up. Also had to redo all the vacuum and 1/2 of the parts were not at the shop thrown around somewhere. All in all, its taking me about 10 days to get this damn thing running and its not perfect yet. I venture to have to troubleshoot things for another day or 2 and put the blower and all the interior back in....

Long story short, you WILL spend 3x more time troubleshooting someone's mess than doing it right the first time. I finished my swap and wiring and stuff in like 2 days....

If you ARE going to buy it, I really suggest getting the swap video's from drifting.com. RB wiring is not as common on the internet as SR's so get the video and double check stuff.... But make sure you have some experience working on stuff....

Get a compression test and check the turbo for play....

Lol 17, with big ambitions, i would do it, not for a first 240 or full fledged project, your to you dont get caught up and dump a shit load of money into this car, buy a fairly stock s14 and build it youself to your liking, rb's are cool motors, but i think an sr is alot alot better imo, rb parts are expensive, sr parts are not, and if your trying to be diffrent and be like "Oh i have an rb in my car" well its hard to be diffrent with a 240sx everything that can be done has been done, if you know whats good for you dont buy it for more then 2500 bucks(if you do buy it) and part it out and find another car... that seems like way to much head ache... just my $.05

no. you dont even know if the motor will run. you could buy all the stuff to get it to run and boom itll throw a rod or something and your out of money. and your stated in the bad other stuff. like what? sounds like your getting over your head.

Id do it. But that's just me, I like projects like this. They keep you occupied and in the end you'll appreciate it a bit more.

If you buy it, contact me to do your wiring. That'll at least be one headache out of the way, you can handle the mechanical stuff. Driveshaft will run you $300 or so. Intercooler/piping kit can be bought from tons of places.

Important question: RB25 trans or RB20?

StalinDrift123

you can try to fix it up if u got the skills.

buy it and part it out...
the motor alone can go for 3k, if in good condition. buy a running 240sx then "personalize" it with the money left over
