list your Windows utilities

i ran across this Lifehacker article, a list of recommended apps for Windows, and it inspired me to finally get up to date on some things. i no longer use the AIM client or Winamp (or disgusting iTunes). it's amazing that almost all the utilities i use on a regular basis are freeware now.

so here's my list, feel free to fill this out with yours and/or add/suggest other categories/programs.

aimp2 - A friend recommended this player to me, he told me it's better than winamp. I think it's the same shit. LOL.
iTunes for ipod

video player:
GOM player - I chose this over VLC for some reason I forgot the reason why, but after going through a shitload of players; I am happy with this one.
PS3 media server - This works for both 360/PS3, can load up all video files, and srt files for subs. pretty good. So if you have a 360 please do not use the shitty media center it tells you to use; use this!

Mozilla Firefox - SAFE browser
Google Chrome - Light, and Fast browser.

antivirus:
Symantec Antivirus - Use it at Yahoo! But I would like to get Kaspersky later on.

messenger client:
Digsby - I recommend this! When you sign-in you can set it to where it automatically logs into your own email account. Also it's compatible with all social networks like facebook, myspace, etc. I guess it does the same thing Pidgin does.

uTorrent - The best torrent program, doesn't take a lot of ram.

One thing with Pidgin is that it doesn't run natively, so it does sap up more resources. If you want something similar to design, check AIM Lite, made by AOL itself. 5mb's installed, iirc. It does multiple tabbing too, but its relocated at teh bottom.

You guys should look into Window Washer or Privacy Eraser to clean your cache/tmp out. If you're running Norton, make sure it's corporate edition, otherwise get rid of it for AVG or Avaste!. Kaspersky comes highly recommended though from the hacker community haha :P

To op: why the switch from Winamp? It's still free, and the basic version is still one of the best.

Basically, what you do is plug in the URL to the file you're looking to get on the site, and if you've not used it before you will be asked to agree to the T&C of the download site and the downloads will sit in queue to be saved to whatever folder you direct to be downloaded to.
I didn't start actually USING it until this morning and I really like it.
This is especially useful for multi-part .rar or .zip files that you need to have all of before opening, or if you're like me and refuse to pay for a premium account and might forget to download something.
