Hey guys. I just got into the drifting thing and had a few questions. I just picked up a 93 240sx. and wanted to make a pretty decent drift car out of it. Any suggestions or a parts list would be appreciated. Whats the best suspension for drifting? Motor? Body work? Thanks alot.

O yea hey around good car is an ae86 corolla u can slap on the stock s13 front suspension and hards good, but I have a 92 240, and I've re adjusted my clutch pedal and e brake put some coilovers and now I'm looking for control arms, honestly I've noticed that everyone is going to have things to say about different parts and brand names, me honestly I would love 2 get stance coilovers those things are amazing. Also do u live in the north east region like a around philly because there is a hugs warehouse that has ton of s13 and s14 parts such as wide body kits nismo parts and right hand drive front clips let me know if you would like his numnber

You can do it, but you'll have to skimp and try to find things used, etc. Also remember a roll cage is not cheap!

Depends how serious you want to get.

To start with you are going to want coilovers and a LSD (limited slip differential) or welded diff.

Focus on suspension first. Get coilovers. You will probably want to go with complete adjustable multilinks too(RUCA, toe rod, traction rod in the rear, Tension rod in the front) I personally would change my bushings out aswell. You can go with a solid subframe bushing to eliminate the slop. Make sure your ball joints are in good shape and you can look into aftermarket tie rods if you like.

Then you can look at chassis bracing. A cage would be the most effective. Weld in cage is way more effective than a bolt it. There is also strut tower bars, fender braces, ect..

For brakes, best budget option would be to pick up some 300zx brakes or skyline brakes. Even Q45 brakes are an upgrade. Combine that with some good pads and some stainless brake lines and a good fluid and you should be alright. No point in having a lot of power if you can't stop it.

Afterthat decide what you want to do engine wise. Lots of options that way and I don't really want to get into that. Most common thing would be a SR swap. But you can go KA-t, RB, SR, CA, then get into crazier stuff Like LSx, Vq, 1 or 2JZ...whatever

Save the bodywork for the end. It isn't really important when you are on a tight budget.

Basically do some research. Look into brands because that is a whole topic on its own. Im sure I missed something real obvious. Im kind of watching TV and not paying too much attention haha.

Having $10k to build a drift car is plenty of money. Dont buy an engine, get some stance or PBM coils, multilink suspension, and a LSD [NOT welded]. (All stated above). Your going to want a racing seat as well as a strong clutch, gauges are always nice to keep an eye on the engine as well. The next part of drifting is body work, get a cool and not too gaudy body kit and a decent paint, as well as some wide wheels and good tires.

Then youll be good to go!

performance > looks buddy, or at least in my world. you could go sr20det or c18. but my friend got really good results out of his KA-T. get some coilovers, an LSD, rollcage, seats maybe, not necessary when on a budget, turbo/engine, tires/rims, brakes, hood pins, and you could spend the rest on cosmetics, or just spend it towards rubber at the track
