Hi guys.

Recently i converted to the z32 gearbox using Mazworx kit etc.

The box started grinding when going from 3rd to 4th, and it wont engage into 4th if i am at above 4000RPM. Goind into 3rd is also grinding, but does go in.

So, i took it apart, and thats what i found :

According to the manual, i think they are called - "insert springs", and it appears there are supposed to be 3 of these that sit on the "3rd & 4th synchronizer hub" (i guess its what in te next pictures).

It appears that all but one, fell off, and even the one thats left, has broken pieces:

It seems that if pull on the input shaft a bit, i mange to take out the Insert Spring that was left - what might sugest, i'd be able to put a NEW INSERT SPRING in.

I dont know much about gearboxes, or synchros - i even have a though time nameing wich part is wich - so i was wondering if it would be enough for me to replace those broken INSERT SPRINGS and call in the day ?

Would i be able to do this, without needing to take anything else apart ??

Does anyone know, what are these for, and are they really responsible for the problems engagine 4th and 3rd ???

Its a 5$ part - i'd hate to need to pay somone to take all the gears apart just for this.

Also, is there a way i can know or check, if the synchros are ok, or need replacement ???

Thanks,
Dany.

Tranny's boggle my mind, but please tell from experience if you attempt this yourself. And I tend to be pretty mechanically inclined.
