I know some of you guys have to be obsessed with HD like me. We have the desktop threads. Throw up pictures of your Blu-Ray collections. Lets see what you got. Here is mine.

http://70.32.114.234/bluray.jpg

I'm at 60 movies, plus Band of Brothers and Seasons 3 and 4 of Lost (which will soon include seasons 1 and 2, since they come out this month.)

The ones sitting on my desk are borrowed. One is Wall-E. The other is Planet Earth (awesome).

I know someone must be more obsessed than me.

It's the weirdest thing.

I think it just makes everything so clear that when people are in front of green screens it just makes it painfully obvious.

jesus, that's a lot of money.
i sold off my dvd collection about 8 months ago. sold the discs for two bucks each. some for a dollar. and after doing that, i really can't convince myself that buying discs of anything is a good idea. so i have four 750gb hdd's, and in time, more.

Yeah I don't think it's setup right.
Some of the older sh!t they're trying to bring back does look fake,
but that's cuz it wasn't recovered in HD.
Watch The Dark Knight in BL, if u think it looks fake, consult an AV specialist lol.

i havent got to enjoy bluray yet.. i got ps3 but havent bought none yet, figure id have to take my ps3 around to watch em on different sets like in the family room. but yeah the super clear picture im not used to, im used to movies having a grainy look to em.. otherwise they end up looking like tv show episodes *and films usually have a different quality to them

I just starting to collect Blu-rays movies...Man, whatever you do, dont get Bloody Valentine 3D...I felt sick after using those glasses (Green & Red lenses) I thought it would be the tint glasses...

The best deal I got so far is Live Free or Die Hard for $20 at Wal-Mart..hehehehe

that's because of motion interpolation.

Certain TV's have different processing priorities.

I used to sell TVs.

LG's have this problem with it. It over-processes people and movement, so it seems 2 dimensional, and each person is on their own plane. It also seems as if they're moving STUPID fast, but at the normal rate. Its stupid annoying. I got motion-sickness from the first day of work cuz of that shit. Not cool. And in rapid motion, it looks lke they're moving with Bullet-Time blurring.

Its because your refresh rate is too fast. I can't explain but I searched for this a while back on my HDTV

Yeah there is some movies that I found to be super grainy like all the spidermans and a couple others. And then there is indiana jones and no country for old men that just look too good. Even iron man was a little grainy.

And its not the tv I tried it on 4 different hd tvs.

I will post mine up when I gets home I don't buy new ones now though since block buster sells previously viewed for super cheap

I love bluray. Only have around 25 of them right now. Don't have a pic of the collection. I've mostly been working on getting the whole system up and running. Almost there with the exception of the pre/pro and amp I want to run. Then it will be complete.

Panasonic TH-50PX80U
Sony 80GB PS3
Monster 1600 surge protector
Pioneer 917 (forgot the full model number)
2x Definitive Technology 7006s (front L/R)
1x Def Tech C/L/R 2002 (center)
2x BP1.2X (surrounds)

No sub yet. I might get one but the towers do such a good job right now I haven't had a need for one yet. Maybe when my house is done being built I will consider getting one.

I've been told that a lot of films introduce grain in the mastering of the film, and that the human eye from a normal viewing distance will pick it up as detail in the picture. So far that has been the case for me. A few movies have an excessive amount of grain, like the movie "300".

This is something I don't mind seeing to an extent. Most high sized LCDs have the option to reduce noise in the picture to help with this.

And don't leave out a sub. Epic fight scenes (300 because you mentioned it, Pirates of the Caribbean, Matrix, etc) just sound so much better with the full range of sound.

If you look up the tower speakers they each have a 8" sub with 2 8" passive radiators. I have the reciever set to "no" sub so the LFE channel is routed to the front speakers. I sell HT stuff, so I've got a pretty good handle on how it works. :wavey:

It indeed does. lol

I had a friend over that is also into HT and audio in general. He has the Klipsch Reference line of speakers. The RF-82's for the L/R speakers and I think the RC-62 for the center.

He was amazed by the overall sound and especially with the bass with no subwoofer. LOL Lisenting to the big battles in Transformers is astounding.
The amp in each speaker has a LFE input too, but it didn't do any different than with just the speaker wire. This is with the sub set to "on" with the LFE sent to each speaker.

Master and Commander is pretty great for the soundtrack, but the movie is kinda bleh. ><

Speaks the truth. I bought both and world at war people are soooo gay!! like hide in the bushes and shit you can't see them. Then there is hella glitches where they can shoot you but you can't even grenade them or shoot them. Plus it lags super hard for some reason I will shoot guys 40 times and they don't even get hit playing hardcore deathmatch.

COD4 rules Silenced G3 with dead silence. And I just got my golden shotty woo woo.
