I blew my auto tranny in my 91 240 with KA24DE and wanted to do a manual swap. I have all the important parts for the swap except transmission. My question is can I remove the bell housing off the sr20 transmission and swap it with the automatic transmission bell housing off my 91 240sx and bolt it right up to the KA24DE? Or are the bell housings for the automatic and manual completely different? If the manual and auto bell housings are different can I just use a manual bell housing from ka24de instead then? I'd rather not source a transmission for ka24de from a junkyard because of mileage concerns on it. My sr tranny has only like 30k on it so I think it's the best bet. Thanks in advance. I'm using a stock like fidanza flyhweel and oem exedy clutch by the way if that matters for fitment purposes.

MT/AT bell housings are completely different.

the sr manual trans part number and the ka manual trnas part number are the same. the gearing and all is the same, you can use an sr trans with a ka bell house but not an automatic one. it would be a waste of money for you to get an sr trans and swap the bell housing, just get a manual ka trans unless you already have the sr one.
most people will charge you double for an sr trans because its for an sr but if you already have the bell housings, the transmissions themselves are the same. the only difference is late model ka transmissions, you can still use them with sr but they have slightly different gearing and are a little stronger because they have better cooling of the trans fluid

I already have the sr trans and didn't want to spend too much more money on the swap. Does the Vehicle Speed Sensor fit right in or will that need to be modified too? I'll just get a KA24DE manual bellhousing and throw it on. I don't feel like spending more money on a transmission when I already have a low mileage sr trans laying around and if all I need is the bell housing. Unless I can find a KA24DE 95-98 model manual trans with low mileage for cheap but I doubt it LoL. Plus doesn't the vss sensor for the ka24de 95-98 trans need different wiring or do you just splice the wires in from the old sensor? And I figure shipping the bell housing would be a lot cheaper than the whole tranny or me trying to drive with my badly running 90 240 LoL. Thanks in advance for all your guys help.
