Red Tailights

I've got a 91 s13 hatch and I saw this other one at school that had the turn signals on the tail light red instead of the usual amber. Does anybody know how to do this or something similar?

Won't paint take away the transparency of the signals? I mean, if you paint it then it would make sense to think that you couldnr see the signals

i painted my corner lights with tamiya "Clear orange" and its good. but why would you want those amber blinkers red. Its gonna look like a ford probe or some ****. :(
