S15 engine? & SIde Mirror

Hey..

Im currious about how much are S15's SR20DET going for? My friend told me there about $4000.. and if its True.. Are they worth getting one... or if I just got like S13, S14, and S15 how much can $5000 extra do to the engine power?

and I was wondering if a S15 side mirror would fit on my 95 with out much work at all?

For prices the only way to know is to ask. For something like this the price is highly dependent on supply. There aren't as many wrecked S15s in Japanese salvage yards.. yet.

Whether it's worth it is up to you... The extra 25hp over the S14 is only due to ECU settings... the turbine spec is the same as the S14 more or less, it has a ceramic inconel turbine wheel and a cast divider wall in the turbine outlet. The 6 speed is a topic of much debate. The electrical system is VERY different from the S13/14 and requires some crazy ass wiring. You also need an S15 driveshaft and diff to use the 6-speed and stock S15 ECU.

Personally, I say get a nice S14 engine, or RPS13 blacktop.

Are you sure the s15 turbo is that similar to the s14? I always thought the s15 turbo's were pretty superior to the s14's. Counting for the majority of the 25hp increase at the same amount of boost.

They use the same specs for the turbine and compressor, the difference being little updates along the way.

Kouki S14s added ball bearings, and the S15 added the ceramic wheel.

hey guys... sorry... sort of a newbie question.... i tried looking to find out the difference between an s13 redtop and and s13 blacktop and i couldnt find any difference. the only thing i know is that the blacktop was used in the 94-98 180sx while the red was used for the 91-93.

as for the mirrors, im not sure if they will work, maybe with some modification though. i know Craft Square makes mirrors for solely for S15 (other cars too, but S15 being the only S chasis car), so thats what i base this on. again im not sure though. if the mirrors dont cost you much, maybe you can be a pioneer and try it. and if it works be sure to write about it so its available to anyone else whod want to try. good luck! :)
