Very Bad electrical mess up.

Hey all, I'm a little new to the 240sx, and ran into a serious problem today. I have dual flex-a-lite 12 inch fans installed in my 1990 240sx with an sr20det. My friend who does some electrical work on cars claimed that my grounds were too small, and my power wire was too thin. so he made me 2 10 gauge grounds, and a 10 gauge red wire leading to the fan switch. He tore up a bunch of stuff under the steering column (all the wires and stuff), and we took it for a spin. All was great, and then i leave it idling for 2 mins in front of his house before i go home. When im on the way home, suddenly i notice that even though my e-brake is up, my brake light in the dash is still on, and my battery light is on. When i push the gas, the brake light dissapears, but i sputter or bogg(w/e its called) at 2500rpm when the fans are on, and can go up to 4000rpm when fans are off. also, when i push the gas, when it is released, i hear this wierd ass whistling sound followed by a click. Also, the sound that the sr20 makes when accessory is turned on (where the fuel rail is primed) sounds like it...continues when the car is on and running???

I am totally puzzled, and have no idea what the problem could be. Is anyone familiar with 240sx s13 electrical stuff? I can try and post a video sometime to let you guys know whats going on. I really need some help guys, this thing is my daily driver. if anyone lives in las vegas nevada, feel free to pm me and arrange a meeting to check this shit out if u know what you are doing lol.

Battery light and brake light coming on the same time = alternator not charging correctly. Did you guys loosen the belts by any chance? A loose or worn alternator belt will trigger the same thing.

car was perfect before my friend tinkered around with all the wiring under the steering column. after that, boom. all this stuff happened at the same time. its gotta be something happenin with the wiring

dam that sucks, i have the same fans, i just used a remote source off the cigarette lighter and ran a power wire straight to the battery. you don't need to mess around under the dash. and even if you do, its just to splice into the ignition wire.

your best answer is to get your friend who helped you originally to help you again. have him retrace his steps and undo whatever he did. Also remove the wires he installed, if you have the controller for the fans, follow what i did in the above paragraph^^^

theres no controller, its just an on and off switch under my steering wheel sorta

i got a switch also and my shit works fine with 14g. speaker wire. lol. your friend i'd have to say didn't know what he was doing. if you're running a switch like that you can even run a wire straight from the battery and not worry about splicing anything just remember to turn the fan on and off all the time is a hassle. and i agree with redsx13 for having your friend undo his work.

Its hard to help on this one without being there.

check and recheck every ground and every plug on your harness and accessories.

I still stand by everything i said in the above post but since you don't have a controller, wire the fans directly to your battery, and do it now!!!

those fans do pull a lot of amps, i wouldnt risk running that extra power through your harness.
