There is a 91 240sx with 77 thousand miles, hud, power everything, everything seems good except for warped rotors, it runs good and shifts smooth. The guy is firm at 2900. Is there anything i should know or do before i finalize the deal?

drift tax is retarded i swear... 2500 for a 91
If you dont "need" this can throw out 1800, and get your swagger on.
a low mileage KA is not worth the extra cost.

Says the noob with low post count who lives in GA where no one gives a shit about the cars. LOL
Man, its like the car is in California, where they are pretty damn popular. $2500 for a 91 as clean as above with 77k is a good deal, even $2900 is not bad considering how clean it is and the mileage.
$1800 would be a steal and offering the guy $1800 when its got a posted price of $2900 is a fucking lowball. Especially when he is firm at $2900
You are a typical lowballing idiot.
That car could go for $3500 in Los Angeles and it has nothing to do with a drift tax. If you think it does you're fan boy noob as well.

what he said .....
consider it's in cali, $2500 is probably a good price. and it looks decent. make sure ALL ELECTRICAL systems work on the car.
both of my 240's had shitty wiring. someone tired to install a stereo system, then my brake lights wouldn't turn off, only one would come on when i press the brake, my HUD would work randomly, and my head lights won't turn on.
so make sure the wiring isn't fucked up.

2900 is not that bad. I paid 2700 for my 1991 240sx LE with 120xxx miles on the KA, but the body was mint.

Look for rust on the frame rails right under the firewall.

Looks pretty good $2500 will be a good dealer consider the perfect body and low mileages and no leaks.
YOu can probably find some cheaper one on craigslist or something but it won't be as clean as this one i can tell you that.. You pay for what you get.

I would pay 2900 in a heartbeat for that, if the frame rails and floorboards are rust free. That thing looks really clean, a new door panel isnt that much money. Not to mention, that thing looks completely unadulterated.

i would agree with dave if the car was cleaner, though i dont think it really looks like its worth that money. the car overall has some signs of wear for its mileage. the engine bay hasnt been cleaned in fuckin AGES, that brake booster looks like shit
i dont care about the low mileage, the car looks like its worth 1500-2000 tops

Is it worth it if your looking for a cheap car?
NO
Is it worth it if you looking for a clean 240?
YES
Once everything checks out, I say go for it....These cars clean with no body damage...Are getting hard to find...
$2,500 would make the deal sweeter though..

$2,500 seems like a more reasonable deal.
Regarding the engine bay, my 40,000 S13 came the same way.
Dusty as FUCK.
My other 60,000 S13 came the same way.
All it needs is a good wash/detail to look great again.
I mean, think about it. The car is close to pushing 20 years pretty soon.
Of course things on the car are going to be dirty.

Try to bring him down to $2,500. If not, just eat the cost and buy it at his asking price.
It's a definite plus that it's an SE with all the options and it's 5-speed.
Really can't beat that.
Just don't try to buy that car and flip it for double on craigslist.
Saw it yesterday with the guy that just recently bought a 40,000 S13 from Nissan trying to flip it for $5,000.
Gave me a good laugh.

I can speak up about that Johnny. I personally know the guy with the 40,000 mile car. I can't fault him for tossing it on craigslist for 5k If someone is crazy enough to give him that money? Why not. On the other hand he has readily said he would not get rid of it unless someone pays that much.
Which pretty much means he wants to keep it but for 5k shit who would not be tempted to let it go. I don't honestly think anyone is going to pay that.
Plus he already has put Nismo S tune suspension in it and is Planning on putting some nice wheels on it.
make sure there isn't something wrong with the odometer either...
the wiring to it may have been cut or something. mine stopped at 56k.

Its a Cali car. Theres a 99.999% chance that framerail and floorboard rust isn't an issue. ahahaha
It looks reeeeal clean. So what if the engine bay is DUSTY and the brake master cylinder leaked at one point in time. Big fucking deal. Little shit like that doesn't matter.

I say it's a fair deal.
A clean 240 like that is hard to find.
If the HUD still works, power steering has no leaks, and it has a working A/C then I'd say go for it.

I was planning to call the guy and offer him 2000 to see if he would bring it down to like 2500 then i would consider it but Im sure he knew what he had and would find someone that would pay close to his asking price(dam fan boys)But what ever,
But anyways I think the OP was asking for some heads up, well what can all you guys recommend him NOT to do or to look out for.
I would tell you to research research and research, if you dont know the car(product)you will be asking for help later on about the most simple things about it.

if u dont know jack about these cars i suggest u get a real mechanic or a well known 240 mech to take a look at this thing...77k DOHC s13 sounds like a dream, and a 2500 tag seems more fair...but it could become a nightmare if u dont know what to look for...if u can take it to a shop get it on the lift, check out the bushings, tie rod boots,, leaks, things, that many on this forum DONT, look at
that with a proper estimate come up with ur own conclusion if the car is worth it or not...

Wow you are an idiot.
That Fastback that guy posted about is a 90 Single Cam and he did not mention actual mileage, which is probably in the 120-140k range.
We are talking about a 91 Coupe aka Dual cam with 77k on it. Those do not grow on trees.
Nissan made more Fastbacks than Coupes. They also made a lot less 91-93 Fastbacks and Coupes which actually gives them more retail value due to being harder to find.
If you can not get your facts strait don't even attempt to debate with me. You will lose.
I suggest you take the cotton out of your ears and stuff it in your mouth.

actually I agree with what you said earlier, that nice dual cam coupes in cali with low mileage are uncommon so that justifies the price.
but you are an asshole, and you enjoy being one.

with proper maintenance the car would be worth that, maybe more ide say. thing that bothers me is that it does look a bit weathered, like the owner didnt ever care to get it detailed or the engine bay cleaned. the way i see it, cleaning the engine bay should occur when parts are serviced. it doesnt have to look mint, it just has to look presentable. the corrosion on the brake booster looks a bit strange...
but whatever, were talking about an ancient 240sx that is in stock form, no one gives a damn.

As stated above look for obvious problems, open/close doors/trunk/hood, make sure they open/close solid. Rust shouldn't be an issue, CA car.
But look for signs, don't assume it's been in CA for 18 yrs.
Inspect all fluids, test all mechanics/electronics and then finally, take
it for a drive. AT THE END IF U FEEL IT'S WORTH IT, go for it.
Because ultimately, that's what matters.
I would suggest offering (SHOW HIM) him $2.5K.
What's the worst that can happen? He says no.
Then ask him to meet you half way, $2.7K
If he still says no, give him the $2.9K, and kick him in the nuts after he gives you the keys. :coold:
