im looking for a nice 97-98 version of the 240sx. ive seen most in automatic and i have been driving stick ever since i learned how to drive a car. i really want a stick but looking around most are auto. how much is it for a conversion. I drive an accord and these cars cost as much as 1500 for a conversion. i saw a website for like 600 dollars. is it worth it to buy auto then convert to stick?
thanks for ur help!!!

Are you doing this in conjunction with an engine swap or are you just thinking of swapping trannies on the KA???

Do you have enough technical knowlege to do it yourself?? Most likely not right??

First, Look harder, they are out there in manual. Don't give up, get the car you really want. Don't comprimise.

Second, find out if you know anyone who can do it for you, a friend with tools and experience will cut your expenses quite a bit.

It really depends on how cheap you can get the auto. If you get a good deal on an auto to offset the cost of the manual swap then it would be worth it.

You need:
pedal assembly
Master cylinder
Slave cylinder
Hard lines
Tranny w/ fork
Clutch
Throwout bearing
Flywheel
Misc. Nuts bots and other hardware

-I'm sure I left out something out but that is in a nutshell what you will need

It shouldn't be that hard of a job (weekend at most) just make sure you have all the stuff you need before you start

Well if you plan on getting an SR20 you would be able to cut labor costs down since they can probably do the tranny swap for you while they are doing your engine. Not a bad option if you find an auto at a good price, since manuals are usually $3k more over here.

And good luck finding a manual kouki.

well actually ive seen a manual 98 240 for 13 grand with about 60 thousand miles on it. i also saw a 98 auto for 10 grand with 70 thousand miles on it. i figured it would probably be much cheaper if i converted it. and yeah im basically clueless on how to change a tranny.

Not a bad idea actually. Take a friend and have a road trip back.
