So Google just announced a new product/concept that I think could potentially change the way we all communicate on the web today.

Yeah I know many of you are thinking, wait doesn't Daniel work for Google? Isn't this just blatant advertising?

Yes, I do work for Google, and no I'm not advertising. I just think this is an amazing idea that could go a long way.

Basically, It's a collection of ALL of the methods we currently use to communicate with eachother on the web. It's browser based so you probably don't even need to install it.

It's like IM, Email, Video sharing, RSS, Blogging blah blah blah, all rolled into a nice neat little package.

I'm not really that great at explaining things, so If you have the time, please read the article. It's long but very in depth and thorough.

You can sign up to be notified when it gets released at http://wave.google.com

The best thing is it's going be open sourced.

The intention is that this CONCEPT is going to replace email and IM all together. So it's not just a product from Google. It's a new standard of communication.

I'm just a contracted employee so I'm not directly employed by them. But my office is in the mobile department at Google HQ. (Basically I'm in the same small area as the guys who created Android.)

It's definitely been a rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable job. I've been here for just about two years now, and it's been one of the best experiences in my life so far.

Fast forward to 25:50.

Since Google Wave was created based on HTML5 (browser based) then yes it already works on the G1 and the iPhone.

The HTML5 standard is what the new Gmail app is based off of. See BustedS13's thread on the latest Android OS update.

There's no beta yet. Nor do I think there will be. Right now they are just launching it internally for testing. Devs just got their first copies too.

I actually just received my invite this past Friday, FINALLY I'm excited to try it out. I just wish there was a group to join or some of my friends had it so I can try it out -.- I can see how this can get pretty crazy though. Trying to organize a meet / venue ? this would be perfect to use if peoples are in different cities, etc. Almost limitless...
