first time postin here,
been rebuilding an s13 on and off for about half a year now, at this point we have a rebuilt KA put in and only gettin 100 psi. i read that we should be ideally getting 170, minimum of 150. we believe it has to do with the fact that we havent found any definitive source on how to properly align the camshafts. before we had 0 psi, realigned the cams slightly and got it up to 100. we will be tryin to tinker with it some more this weekend, but i was hopin that someone out there might have some solid help to offer on how exactly they should be aligned.

thanks in advance for any help:)

well to make sure the cams are "aligned" put the #1 cly at TDC. Then make sure the cam lobes for the #1 cly on the exhaust side are pointed out (to the drivers side of the car). And the lobes for the #1 cyl on the intake side are pointed out (to the pass side). The should get it kinda in place. But you should of marked everything before you took it apart.

I know thats a ****ty way to expain it but best I could think of at the moment. I will try and find some picts for you.

Also you should make sure that the motor is oiled up and warm, or the numbers will be low. You need some oil up in the rings or your numbers will just be off. But 100 seems to low for even that.

Did you check valve lash? you might be holding a valve slightly open.
