I typically frequent the Dime Quarterly (great little newsletter you can subscribe to, too!), Ratsun and The510Realm every night on my forum rounds.

Being a 510 guy myself, Ratsun and the510realm are the most helpful and easiest to navigate, in my opinion.

We call them dimes because they'll "Nickel and Dime" you to death (quite literally!). Plus, the X10 serious goes on. There's 410's, 510's, 610's, 710's, etc, etc, etc... Just like how 240/260/280/300/etc are all nicknamed "Z's."

Sweet color, it's different and stands out! I'd look into having your window pillars and 1/4 window trim painted black. It'd make your car look a bit sleeker, in my opinion, and on lighter colored 510's, it's a trick a lot of people use.

It is common knowledge that the Datsun 510 is lovingly referred to as a dime, what has been left unknown is how this name came to be.


One of the first guys to coin the term(no pun intended) was Roger Feltersnatch, who would say let's spend some time with my dime.

The slang term 'dime' is often used to refer to beautiful women, so it only felt fitting that the Datsun be called a 'dime' because once you own one it has to become your 'dime' because you are never getting a good peice of pussy ever again.

i have heard the area code referred to as the five and dime.

EDIT: if i ever paint the car, i'll do the 1/4's and pillars then. till then, though, all my money is going towards performance.
