I have a question, my car needs to get tuned asap and i would like to turn the boost all the way down so i dont go into boost with a bad tune. Can MBC's do this? i have a ka24de-t running a sr20 t25 with stock wastegate. thank you

the lowest setting will be determined by the spring (~7 psi)

boost controllers can only add boost , the minimum you can run is the minimum of the spring in your wastegate so on an sr its 7-8lbs

damn, so any way to not get into boost other than just simply staying off the heavy foot? Getting into boost is so tempting and hard not to do it. I do have a warning function that i can set my boost gauge to so i dont go into boost.

How shitty is your tune that you think you'll damage you engine by driving around like a normal person?
This is getting stupid.

What's amazing is that you are asking this question in the first place; this is turbo knowledge 101. I suggest you familiarize yourself with the rest of your setup before you go any further; for your motor's sake. What has been said already, is correct, but I think you're asking how NOT to boost at all. This is as simple as taking it easy and not spooling the turbo. I recommend you remove what ever janky MBC that is on your motor and start with the base actuator spring setting; 7psi.
Knowledge is priceless, go, hopefully back, to ka-t.org and do some more studying. GL with the build, I had a great time with my T25 KA-T, but it will require a decent knowledge base to do right.

I actually acquired alot of knowledge from ka-t.org so i know this is a pretty basic question but it would be nice to see if i can have the option to not boost at all so i dont end up blowing anything when accidently going into boost untuned. My current tune using nistune is doing fine however im leaning out a bit in boost so thats why i want to crank it down. I understand that the wastegate spring is set by default at 7psi. Im still learning how tuning works and hopefully ill get it down by running on the street enough to make corrections.
Besides how reliable was your ka-t setup? So far i was able to kinda drive around and no problems when cruising on the freeway so im assuming my tune is pretty decent based on the characteristics of the car.

well the car should be pretty much the same out of boost besides corrections for the larger injectors. I remember having a lot more torque than my SR does but never the peak power; esp. with that turbo... I ran 10psi with an EBC and got about 210rwhp and 242rwtq. I only ran an SAFC I when I did mine but I didn't have ignition control like the Nistune does, so that's a great start. I'm actually running Nistune on my built SR now... Great system!

If you don't want to go into boost then just remove the c-clip from the wastegate actuator arm that connects to the wastegate flap, then just slide the arm off it. That way the flap cant stay closed to build and boost.

Wow you ran your ka-t at 10 psi without any timing control? Nistune is a great program and really useful.
Thats all you have to do to the wastegate didnt know that lol. Ill try it out and see how it goes. thanks
