I have an I.C.E. Pak ignition setup. I loved it, but it is going in the trash after only 19,000 miles. It requires a modified cap that must be attained from your dealership parts department, mailed to Jacob's, modified, them sent back. That's all fine, well, and good; except that Jacob's no longer supports the I.C.E. Pak cap modifications needed to make the system work. Why the kits are still being sold, I have no idea, but I didn't find out until I called Jacob's to send in another cap. It is a good thing they are all the way out in Texas, 'cause if they were not, I would have my foot up their @$$ right now. I can't believe they don't have a system setup to notify those of use who have gone through the process already that they are basically screwing us all out of $400. They can't act like I'm not on their mailing list, I get all their other bull$h!t. I'm going with the MSD SCI Digital + system, just as soon as I can rip the Jacob's crap out and mail it back. I'll be sure to wrap it in lawyer's papers. @$$holes. Sorry, but they were jerks to me on the phone, even before I sent my first and only cap in to them. The system worked just fine, but it is useless now. Go MSD, if you want something done right.

yo kingjohn, watsup :D
sorry to hear about your ICE pak... that does suck that Jacobs wont modify your cap even though they did it when you first bought your setup :-\
as for me.... my msd has crapped out also. if you search online, there are quite a few bad reviews about msd reliability :( i fell victim to a dead msd unit and the frontier's electronic ignition does NOT like the blaster 3 coil in the ignition system by itself.
my msd 6A was a used unit and had run fine for about 2 months before it gave out... good luck if you go ahead and get an msd setup anyways :-\
(tell ya what... i'll trade my blaster3 coil for your jacobs "crap" :D)

Hey drifted off road, it's Todd from the last meet.
I have an ICE pak, been in for a year, just hooked it up to my stock setup, didn't modify anything, don't know what the hell people are talking about, it works good, my car starts all the time, i guess i can't complain. however its nice but not neccessary, id rather spend 400 on an apexi dual and/or injen intake and/or shifter.

haha hey todd, kingjohn and i are nissan frontier owners, not 240sx :p i guess he was just commenting on the lame business from Jacobs.
us frontier guys have to modify our caps because the trucks use an internal coil (it's inside the distrib housing). also, the +12v and ignition trigger wires are inside the housing. I'm guessing the modified cap outputs the signal/12v to the outside of the cap and custom rigs a spark tower on top of the cap (to get the juice from the new external coil to the distrib, of course :D)

yeah, i'll let you see it at the next meet, but it's one of those nice but not neccessary items. Wasn't your car an auto? Let's work on that tranny swap to get your game up young bull.

Yeah, I'm pulling out my Jacob's I.C.E. Pak this weekend. If any body wants the system less the cap, let me know. If you pay shipping, plus a little for my packing trouble, it's yours. Email me at
[email protected] I keep the wiring harnesses to all my electronics long as stock, and well maintained. I'm gonna go with the MSD SCI Digital+, and since I'm a dealer, I could care less if it doesn't last more than three months.
