driveshaft problem(pics)

I've search but couldn't find my answer, i install my sr20 in my 90 coupe and the shaft has space between it and the tranny. I don't remember it being that much space when i had my sr in my 93 coupe, is this normal? everything is bolted up too.

I've seen the same thing on multiple cars. it's got enough inside that I wouldnt worry about it

you could have an ABS D/S in a non ABS chassis

other than that you have more than enough of the D/S shaft in the tranny

is the car on the gound in the pics?

When you lower the car on the ground it will push the D/S a little more in to the tranny

i doubt i have a abs d/s cause i bought the car from the original owner which was a old lady, she left the car bone stock when i got it...the car is in the ground in the pics...you think i should put the dust shield on it to protect it from debris? i still have the sr one and i could trim it to size to make it fit.

After searching around I found out that I do have a abs driveshaft in my non abs chassis...I heard it will fine but the only thing is that i can't punch it when I'm driving it...is this true? Would I be better off getting a non abs driveshaft to be safe and avoid any damage to the driveshaft or tranny?

i saw a product a company made to where it was a ABS D/S spacer thatyou sandwitched inbetween the diff and D/S

When you lower the car on the ground it will push the D/S a little more in to the tranny

seriously dude? How is the SUSPENSION of the car going to push the DS into the tranny more? The diff is connected to the FIXED subframe, which is connected to the FIXED tranny mount. If you have that much slop then something is very, very wrong. I wouldn't drive my car like that, but it's totally up to you. I would get the correct driveshaft and DO IT RIGHT the first time.

ether get a non abs drive shaft or a abs diff lol. I wouldn't leave it like that.

Neither of that... THat is a NORMAL space, because he didn't put the dust ring on, or lost the dust ring, which normaly would cover that space.

I don't have the dust ring installed on mine and my DSS driveshaft seats all the way in.

Yea it seems the dust ring is missing on the tranny, just slap on a later model of the j30 vlsd like a 95-96 so that it has the 6 bolt output for direct bolt on. The abs sensor on the pumpkin will fill in that gap and your driving will be a little more fun.

DSS is different, single piece and btw I have a DSS and it doesn't seat all the way in. ABS drive shaft on ABS diff, but is perfectly covered by my dust ring.

100% correct. That is normal, what isnt normal is if its flush without the dust collar.

I removed my dust collar, couldnt get the 1pc on with it attached.
