pop up !ftmfw! verts with the right s13 front end do look good though. most of the s13. whatevers look goofy as shit. i also hate sileightys. coupes look good with silvia fronts, and hatches look good with pop ups.

on the east coast verts are hard to find in good shape. dont kill this car byt making it into some pieced together piece

WTF...that car looks like a polished turd...I can see the idea but the execution SUCKED!!!

After seeing the rest of the pictures, I am NOT a fan of a kouki front end on a hatch. Nothing fucking flows on it. The sharp edge on the front doesnt bode well with the rounder rear. I think the 15 front end with wide fenders in the rear works well on the hatch. Round front with a round rear. The 14 kouki front flows better on an S13 coupe.

Eww... Hatch should stay pop up, or maybe silvia front end if done right... s14 front should stay on a s14...

You're getting a lot of speculation because you asked for "any" input.

I do not know any conversion kit you can buy for the zenki. AIT and RaceonUSA makes kouki conversion kits. I have the AIT kit.

You can make it work if you're good with bodywork. The hardest part will be getting the fenders to line up properly.

Good luck.

hatches should stay with pop up's, coupes look great with kouki fronts, and zenki's need to stay zenki

I did the S13.4 swap purely out of necessity.

All the JDM lights are not street legal in the US.

All the pop-up lights I found are just as messed up as mine.

There is no kit for S13.4 to use zenki S14 lights.

The only viable alternative is S14 kouki lights either used or new from the dealer.

I wouldn't mind a zenki front, except for the glass getting brown.

Are German glass lights street legal in the US?

You should get a vendor to make a zenki conversion kit.

Do the lenses have any DOT or SAE stamp on them?

Being pulled over and being legal are different things.

majority of aftermarket lenses are not DOT approved let alone SAE
just get kouki lights as they don't yellow or varnish after a period of time.

Nothing is ever DOT-approved. The government doesn't have enough resources to approve everything on the market. The manufacturer stamps DOT/SAE themselves. DOT randomly sample and if you fail, you get fined.

I agree. My lights are still crystal clears after 12-13 years.

I don't know about Virginia, but in california never is there DOT patrolling to see if your vehicle meets spec.

and at the same time just because its not DOT approved does it mean it wouldn't pass.

g6civcx
09-11-2009, 03:21 PM

DOT standards are federal law. They generally only fine manufacturers.

Federal, state, and local law enforcement are the ones that usually give you tickets for non-compliant lights.

at the same time just because its not DOT approved does it mean it wouldn't pass.

You are correct; however, if it doesn't have the DOT/SAE stamp, it's considered illegal and you pay the ticket.

If the stamp is there and it fails, the manufacturer pays the ticket.

09-11-2009, 03:34 PM
yeah california doesn't care about that shit... just as long as you run "clean" your bucket of crap can look how ever you want... brake check? whats that? they only do brake/light inspection on salvage title vehicles.

g6civcx
09-11-2009, 03:52 PM
yeah california doesn't care

Just give it some more time. When Cali has been broke as long as Virginia has been, the police will start enforcing these laws to make money for the state.

The local courthouse alone here makes $10 million a month on traffic tickets. Multiple that by a hundred courthouses and you get the idea.
