I wanna get rid of the sound deadening for weight but still have some tunes in the car. This is in a non daily/semi track car. Is the road noise so bad that you cant hear the music? Anyone have any experience with a similar situation?

If you're saving weight, then you don't need speakers.
Seriously guys, sound deadening isn't THAT heavy.

I was under the impression that it is. If I can save some weight with the deadening, then its weight I can save. I dont wanna give up the tunes but its not going to be a crazy system anyways, just upgraded speakers and maybe a 10" sub.
I took off the sound deadnting and have a decent stereo... sounds kinda the same O_o

Remove the cheap factory sound deadening and replace it with aftermarket sound deadening. It will sound better and be less weight. Just don't cover the whole car like wallpaper like they do on tv. Use the factory locations as a guide. Anywhere there is flat surfaces that can oilcan/sound like a drum put some.

Insulation is insulation, i never noticed any better aftermarket deadener that is better than OE. IMO, there is no weight savings... no benefit in removing/replacing.. either keep it or ditch it. If you're looking for comfort, keep it. Remember, it also insulates against heat from the motor.

The heat one is good. My feet get hot when I drive and i have the stock interior in the car. I saw someone use this reflective foil looking sheet on the engine side of his firewall to reflect heat.
