I'm about 95% certain that YES, they are. So mainly I'm asking if anyone else has seen ads like these around.

I'm seeing these ads pop up all over Craigslist, in various areas (all around me, anyway). North Carolina, southeast VA, northern VA, etc. Newer vehicles (2005+) that should be selling for $20,000 or so, listed for ~$5,000.

### Very nice 2006 Toyota 4runner 4x4 navigation system,leather (http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/ctd/1176682455.html)
awd infiniti fx35 (http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/1176657680.html)

There was also a low mileage '05 Pathfinder listed for $4,something.

I've emailed these people, and the story is always the same: "Hi, my name is ____________, the car is immaculate. I am a (insert rank and military branch) and I am stationed in (insert name of foreign country; usually the U.K.) . The vehicle is here with me, but was never registered here, and would cost too much to register in this country. The price is $#,### including shipping to your home address."

Sometimes there's a blurb about how the money will stay in escrow until the car is delivered.

The Carfax records actually check out though.

Anyone else seen these? I don't see how this WOULDN'T be too good to be true.

It's a TARP.

Foreign country + escrow = scam...

Make it succinctly clear that you intend to deal in cash and only cash and to fuck off otherwise... If the listing is a local state, then you can wait until it is back in that local state.

Yeah, a brief Google search tells me that I'm late to the party and these have been going on for a while now.

Yeah the Escrow company is always fake. When you send them the money it's game over.

Hence why Craigslist has written in big bold lettering:

[ OFFERS TO SHIP CARS ARE 100% FRAUDULENT ] (http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams)

i've seen those before. i went straight to the next car listed. if it sounds too good to be true, then you're most likely about to get scammed
