hey there. I've got a problem with the clutch on my RB25. It works just fine for "daily driving". Nice and smooth engagement, no slip, etc.

However, once i get on the gas, at about 4.5k rpm, the clutch begins slipping. it's pretty much impossible to do any pulls in any gear..

* brand new exedy oem clutch

SO....after about 6 hours of blood sweat and tears i finally got the damn tranny off. My plan is to rough up the flywheel, pressure plate, & clutch disk and clean the shit out of all friction surfaces.

I don't understand why a brand new clutch would be slipping (i was nice and easy on it in the beginning)...and ideas?

These pictures aren't the greatest but i thought i'd post them anyways to see if anyone sees anything suspicious. I was afraid of glazing...but i'm not exactly sure what it would look like

that's kinda what i was thinking too.....i maybe have 200 miles or so on this clutch.

what would you guys recommend for a "break in procedure"...??

well not going over 4k rpms and break in period of like 250 miles or so. in that time try not to floor it. i know, i know, its very tempting :)

How many miles did you 'break' it in for?

i broke it in for about 200 miles. maybe less....

my next question. do you think part of the problem could be the clutch i'm using? It's an OEM spec exedy clutch for a N/A Z32. I probably should have went with a performance clutch, but i didn't have the money at the time of purchase...

I'm planning on running stock boost on the RB for quite a while

also bleed the slave too itll help

maybe adjust clutch pedal?

God I hate it when ppl say this when the problem is the clutch slipping

THE CLUTCH SYSTEM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CLUTCH SLIPPING WHEN THE CLUTCH IS ENGAGED!!!

IF HE WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH SHIFTING/CLUTCH DISENGAGEMENT THEN BLEEDING THE CLUTCH SYSTEM WOULD HELP!!!

The VG30DE is rated at 222hp/198ft.lbs
The RB25DET is rated at 250hp/235ft.lbs

Even a stock clutch should be able to take 30ft.lbs over stock. A stock RB clutch doesn't start slipping until over 300hp, closer to 320.
