Hey I was trying to search, but havent really found anything I was looking for.
Not sure if this is the right area, it does regard cali, so i put it here..
I read about the engine change thing with the ref and everything, what I was wondering has anyone ever successfully got an approved engine change through the ref on an SR20DET?
It says you have to have all the SMOG equipment and EGR crap like that, and I read that the (i believe) S15 slanttop SR has an EGR system.. So, MAYBE that one would actually be a legal swap?

If not, maybe a more time consuming and expensive option...
But why not just have a stock-ish KA and swap that back in when/if you ever get ref'ed, then after you pass, swap back the SR? Would that work at least until you got pulled over again?

no. SR20det's are illegal motors. It will never pass smog.

swap the KA every time you get a ref ticket... if it's worth it to you..

SR's don't pass california laws! It's been said over and over again.

The one SR with the EGR shit should technically pass since it has the emission control stuff..

Is it just because they were never offered here in the states? I mean is that the only reason or what? If so thats pretty lame...

HAHA dude thats awesome!!!

let me google that for you!!!

to the OP... if you think it should pass, then go for it!!!

if you don't want to listen to the millions of people that have tried and have proved that the sr20det will NOT pass smog in california, then GO FOR IT!!!

if you decide you do want to listen, then LISTEN! it's been said like 50 times... or 50 million times?

^Healthy SRs will pass the tailpipe test, but fail the visual, and NO, you cannot get an SR to pass at the ref/BAR.
