holler oil know it alls

here is the question, is it ok to run the kaaz 80w90 lsd oil in my 5spd tranny ? i figured it would be ok since don't fwd cars do that when they put a clutch type lsd in their tranny ?

thanks in advance if anyone knows, i've yet to put the oil in

it won't hurt it, but i'm biased towards coastal 80w-90. the cheap stuff works great.

those honda's run engine oil in their tranniy's so don't follow that logic

if you do wanna get synthetic i like 75w-140 (anything but MOBIL 1) but it's really not that necessary

Kaaz LSD oil has friction additives - you don't want friction in your gearbox, because you don't have clutch plates in your gearbox. Aside from those additives, 80w-90 GL4 (which is what the Kaaz is) is basically what you're lookin for.

Search our gear oil threads... there's a ton of "preferences" floating around - but you don't want LSD oil, because of the friction additives.

Just an update, the bottle says MANUAL TRANSMISSION OIL as well, but it says GL-5, are the sr20 transmissions GL5 compatible ?

heres a pic of where it says

dude i used mobil-1 75w-90 with one quart of the lucas stuff and my gear shift like butter.. aside from busted up motor mounts and trannt mount, its easy shifting...

acctually GL5 will slowly eat away at the bronze synchros. i think GL3 is recommended?
