about 2 days ago my OE radiator blew up, Upon going home I overheated the engine for a quick second. So I went and got a Mishimoto radiator. Everybody knows the mishimoto radiator caps are pure garbage and 8/10 dont hold pressure, so I discarded the cap. Im using an OE nissan cap, however the fit is very very tight, as if the radiator is only propriatary to the mishi cap.

So now ive noticed my overflow tank has went from max to below low. Ive bleed to coolant 3 times with the proper snap-on tool to ensure all air was truely free. Durring driving the reserve tank should fill up slightly due to the 0.9 bar cap, however I drove quiet hard and the level remained almost empty.

If your running a mishi radiator, have you had any issues with using the OE cap? Im thinking the radiator neck is a different height, thus throwing the caps OE specs way out the window.

thanks!!!

PS. I pressure tested the system at 19lbs, and after 6 minutes it dropped to 16.5lbs.

I have been using the mishimoto cap and have had no problems. I looked and the oe cap and they do look different. I am not sure on the fitment and would just use the mishimoto cap if the oe is not tight.

I recommend using a 1.1. to 1.3 cap.

not when your heater hoses are old, using the OE z32 turbo cap is how I blew my radiator in half.

I have my z32 cap for when I replace the hoses.

Thanks for the replys fellers

Anybody wtih the mishi radiator know if the filler neck is glued on? It takes some force to get the cap on and off, and I feel as if im going to rip it off, it looks as if its just glued on there.

if it were glued on i think the heat and pressure in the cooling system would have caused a serious leak of some sort by now.

i have a mishimoto and i use the cap it came with. i dont have any problems with it leaking. its still holding pressure good.
