View Full Version : swap wiring help. (2 battery tray plugs)

ok, so everywhere says to use the SR wiring guide. WELL, its very vague and confusing.


this is how i wired up the two plugs behind the battery and i wanted to make sure they were right.

Gray 8 Pin. Used KA 8 Pin Female Clip
Blue/Red to Blue/Red
Red to Red
Red/Green to Red/green
Red/White to Red White.

Leftover from 8 Pin Gray:
Blue/Green
Yellow/Green
Black

Leftover from 8 Pin Gray Harness:
Red/White
Blue/Red
Red
Red/Green

Brown 5 Pin Male Clip from a KA:
2 Brown from Clip to Brown from Harness
Green/Orange to Green/Orange
Black/Yellow to Black/Yellow
Black/Pink to Black/Pink
Red/Blue (From Gray unused harness) Black/Red to Red Black on 6 Pin Brown Male Clip
Unmatched from 6 Pin Clip:
Pink
Yellow/Green

Also, this harness is different from my last. There is no white wire for my knock sensor. What do I do for that?

You dont have to wire anything for your knock sensor. Other than that I dont know what you're asking.. Its the easiest fucking swap ever

ok.

i dont have a sr. i have a ca.

i have a black and red on my KA brown clip but when I match it up to the CA harness, I dont have one coming from the brown clip harness. do I use the one from the same sized gray plug? there is not one on the large 8 pin either.

Lol, you never stated anything about having a CA in your first post.. talk about being vague..


Yes use the one from the gray plug... The best way to do this wiring is to look at an FSM and wiring diagram so you know what wire goes where (to what function)... Unfortunately I cant find a fsm for the 1988-89 180sx... you can try looking around at Index of /FSM (http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/)

The knock sensor isn't in that part of the harness, it runs from the ECU straight to the sensor. That's true on every engine, every chassis.

russ, the o2 shielded wire is usually in the lower harness. i know for a fact in a ca its not in the main harness.

Um, no. The O2 heater wire (brown) is in the underhood harness. The signal is not found anywhere except the engine harness.
