what's the worst damage that could happen from not running any anti-freeze...
I know it's a dumb question but humor me.....

Overheat the engine and kill the headgasket and if you continue to drive sieze the engine.

NO. The only reason you need coolant is if you don't have adequate airflow to keep the engine cool on its own.
You can run straight water.
The only purpose of the ethylene glycol is to raise the boiling point and lower the freezing point. If water gets to 212 F, it WILL boil over. When that happens, it loses its cooling abilities, and will start bursting hoses and whatnot.
But if you need to, you can run without the "green stuff"...your engine will actually run a few degrees cooler like that.

I'm not sure if he means a dry coolant system, or a water-only system with no antifreeze.
No coolant = engine overheats, headgasket blows, possible head warpage.
Water only = rapid corrosion, frozen coolant if it is below freezing.

actually the corrosion slows with just water unless the water itself has impurities.

Yeah, and on this planet, water has impurities.

If you live where it's hot, then you don't need antifreeze. BUT; a 15% mixture is the least recommended.

antifreeze are for wussy cars.... my car is a man car.... all it needs is gas... it doesnt even need oil.... lub if for the weak... take it like a man.!!
(sorry.. im just messin... haha it was all in good fun though... ):D
my friend ran around town with no antifreeze for like 10 days in his mk3 supra ( due to a leak in his return line)... it still runs strong though...

Uh, water itself is fairly corrosive (even pure). For mild climates, that's the main reason you use it.

Which is why they recommend using distilled water. (isn't it?)

Distilled water alone will still wreck a cooling system given enough time.

the reason I'm asking is becuase I'm thinking about buying a S14 from some one who did that...he's getting it fixed, he's getting the head overhauled...I'm just worried that there wil be future problems that will come back to haunt me....
are there any other things I should be worried about?
thanks in advance guys...

I would wonder what else wasn't maintained on the car. If he didn't maintain something as easily-maintained as the coolant system on the car, then what else did he not take care of?
