I've always wanted my car to have a silky smooth shine, but all of the products i've tried have brought mixed results.

This thread will be dedicated to all tips on how to get your car shining like a mirror.

So, anyone have any good advice?

I used Meguire's Gold wax about a three months ago and my car still shines like the day I waxed it. I would definetly recommend that shiznut.

Waxes and polishes will only get you so far. You must buff the paint to get that perfect appearance. Only buffing will remove scratches and imperfections in the paint to give a totally smooth finish.

I detailed for years. I use a high speed (3000 rpm) rotary buffer and a simple glaze for most paints.

I Use Meguirs 1, 2, and 3. 1) paint cleaner 2) polish 3) carnuba wax. Also look into getting a buffer, check out the turtle wax buffer it shouldn't cost to much i got mine for Christmas but it works really good. But for best results get a claybar.

Get a clay bar as show in the link:

I think you can pick these up at wal mart, pep boys etc.

You gotta be careful when using a power buffer tho, cause you can burn through the paint in no time.

Yeah, I had a friend that did that on a 63 Impala. He was so mad. That is what you get for not knowing what you are doing.

I would suggest taking it to a detailer if you want to do that and don't have the buffer. Don't rent one unless you know how to use it correctly.
