It appears to be a P-51 Mustang, which SHOULD make the engine the Rolls Royce V1650 12-cylinder engine. It was marketed under the Packard name though.

27 litre, V12, pushing the Mustang over 440mph.

Too bad it has that Freddy intake Mani it though. :eek:

However, this particular plane in Brian's post is actually sporting a General Motors High Output 350 crate motor, with a custom exhaust manifold to duplicate the "Merlins" 12 pipes.

I knew something wasn't right, when I was only counting 8 plug wires. :ddog:

Is it illegal to make your own plane and fly it? I want to make one when I'm older. Planes sell for like 50k+ I think I'll be too broke to own one, but hopefully not enough to not make one.

they have kit planes that you can build.

how much modification would i need to fit it into my s14? just some custom motor mounts im assuming, the rest is plug and play correct?

as in, the original plane had a 27 litre V12, but is now powered by a small block chevy...which is 5.7 litres?

You are allowed to make Experimental Aircraft just like you are allowed to make Kit Cars. Similar restrictions apply

sounds like it. if built right, that 5.7l could be more powerful than the 1100hp original.

here's an interesting line from the wikipedia page about it.
"Two Peregrines bolted together on a common crankshaft into an X-24 layout would create the 1,700 hp (1,300 kW) 44 L Rolls-Royce Vulture"
