I changed the master cylinder. There were a lot of break fluid stains around the place where the master cylinder was connected to the booster. The brakes were also unpredictable. Sometimes the car would stop perfectly and sometimes I would feel like I push the pedal and it pushes back. Felt spongy..
Now with the new master cylinder the braking is more predictable but I need to push the pedal harder.
When I was installing the MC I noticed that there is no gap between the rod in the BB and the insides of the MC. I think I even had to apply some pressure to make it flush.
Should there be a gap? I know that you can adjust the play at the pedal, but what are the adjustments between the MC and BB?
How can I test if my BB is going bad? The usual checks like when the car starts and I have the foot on the brakes, the pedal does down. When I shut the car off I still can pump the pedal 2-3 times until it goes hard. It checks out...
The other thing is after I bled the brakes 2-3 times to make sure there is absolutely no air, the front tires lock but the rear ones don't. Is it the pressure regulator? I was alone in the car when I tried it. Is it normal for rear wheels not to lock if the back of the car is not loaded?
Thanks
