180sx kouki tails, remove orange?

Is it possible to remove the orange or cover it maybe with lamin-x? Do you think it would even look good?

smoke red vinyl would do the trick if you could get the perfect color. try photoshopping it to see what it would look like on a vehicle.

Yeah I definitely don't want it to look like the ebay tails for sure. I'm a lamin-x dealer so I can hold up some samples when my tail lights come and see what they look like. I supposed its not enough orange to ruin a color scheme anyways haha :)

I'm not so sure I like it, but I'll have to keep looking at it for a few days. I did find some of these other tail lights and I kinda like them. It might just be the inner ricer in me but on a car with 500whp, I think I can manage :D

i THINK both those cars have HIPPO SLEEK lights.

I had 2 sets a couple years ago, and those look pretty similar.

You would probably need to talk with a company that brings in J parts for you.

P.S. The Hippo Sleek are probably pretty expensive.

They are all LED and come in a clear version or a smoked version and they DON'T come with the center panel or lower metal ganish (nor the keys and lock for that matter)

those led tails are produced by Junyan and Hippo sleek is one of the distributors that sell them as their own product, Junyan is the Taiwanese company that produces most altezza style lights...

if you decide to go with them, my advice to you would be to use an oem kouki 180sx center light/lock/key and apply some transparent red oracal vinyl to the outside to get rid of the cheezy clear/smoked look. also use some aquarium silicone to seal them up as they aren't sealed from the factory very well. Don't forget the butyl either.

it would be nice if some of the companies decided to do a LITTLE extra work and at least use a unique box to see that stuff in.

i.e. The URAS sidemarkers I got for my old S14. All the junyan part numbers were there and everything. All URAS does is put a small sticker on the box.

I agree 100000% dude the kouki tails could NEVER make your car look worse, once you put 'em on you'll see. Butt if they do look good with the lamin-x dude totally rock 'em the 1st and start a trend

i hear ya guys.... so I'm down to either getting kouki tails and leaving it as is, or getting the smoked hippo sleek LED ones. I'm going to ask around and see how much it would cost overall to get the tails + center section + lower panel.

I think I'd get the carbon RPS13 center section though.

What ever you do - PLEASE tape up the Blk Plastic trim surround of the center garnish before its painted.Its there to match the surround of the tailights..
Pic above they painted the Whole Thing.come on Mang - $500 lights need to be Done "right",..though Hyperteck's car was a Huge part of my 1st 180sx build.

whenever i read the title of this thread, i keep thinking you mean to get turn the orange part into clear/white. then that might look ok. but you'd need colored bulbs for the turn signals. turning it red makes it look like crap. too much space between the circles.

I actually haven't bought anything yet. I was kinda set on the hippo sleep ones for a while, but it will probably be on of the last things I do to complete my car's build.
