Hey, I got bored today so I went to trusty ole Home Depot and bought me some tubing and made me a nice cold air intake. How long it will last I dont?? This weekend will sure surprise me if it lasts that long.

Im not to sure if there was a difference becasue I havnt drove my car hard in a little bit becasue I just had a new clutch put in. Well its almost 500 miles since then another 30 or so to go so I figure a little hard driving to test this sucker out wont hurt. I didnt go through all the gears but through 2nd it sure pushes me back in my seat more than I remember. Wel heres a picture and let me know what everyone thinks. Also how about during the rain becasue where its located is right in front under the bumper where the old intake resignator box was.

hehe, its alright, its just that it hangs kinda low under the bumper. One good speed bump and BOOM! There goes the intake.

Did you notice any gain in pickup when you installed it? I looks like you may need to cut some of the excess hose, then you can fasten it a little higher. I would be afraid of getting too much water in the filter during rain where it is right now.

Yeah I think I did notice a little gain but I also havnt drove her too hard lately though.

Yeah I was thinking of trying that at first but the filter is too big and wont fit in that space without getting in the way of one of the pulleys. Thats another I keep checking after I drive her is that the hose didnt move over a bit and hit a pulley and get ripped. If I could have fit it in there it would definittly have been in there.

Having just tried something similar, I may have some tips for you.

1) the dryer hose it far too flimsy to survive a week under the car like that

2) too many bends

Here is my suggestion: use a 3" hole saw to widen the hole where the stock resonator box was, this should allow your tube to go directly down behind the bumper, this is the same path aftermarket CAI take.

here is a pic of where my tube was, the hole is a little less than 2.5" in diameter, so it should be easy to widen to fit your hosehttp://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid56/pb9d1b26ff4ce1d517ff4d0616aa2bcb2/fc751db6.jpg

this way the intake will be seperated from engine heat, but also saved from road debis and water by the stock splash gaurd.

Wow Im an idiot that is a great idea rennen I never thought of widening that hole.

And yeah I know that hose isnt going to last long but I dont really care too much it was all I could find in the store. I was looking for some of that type of hose but I couldnt find it.

Also today it rained out pretty heavy and I didnt even want to take a chance driving with that thing on so I disconnected it at the top and put my other filter back on (stored in the trunk thank god since I was at work when it started raining) But when I got home it was hard to tell how wet the filter got but it didnt feel too wet but Im sure their was plenty of water inside of it.
