Well, it depend on what you stick on the end of the injens intake. I would think a K&N would do the job best. But your comparing an intake tube vs an air filter unit.

The most popular intake for our car is the Injen intake with the CAE. I'm not really sure about the HKS, but if it's not a CAI, I'd get the Injen. I don't have it yet, but will be getting it next week. I just heard so many good reviews about it that I'm getting one myself. If you want the Injen, e-mail me at
[email protected] and I could give you a good deal on one. My friend owns a shop and he'll hook you up.

Hey if I were you I would get the Injen just because I have one and its awsome. The Injen intake even comes with a K&N filter, the HKS mushroom filter has to be replaced after 10,000 miles and the k&n does not have to be replaced for a 1,000,000 just cleaned every 25,000 or when it gets really dirty. So I say get the Injen you wont be dissapointed

the injen doesn't have a k&n filter. it has an injen filter

Wouldn't you be able to put a K&N here anyway?

Yeah you could. I think what he ment is that it's a K&N style filter. Not foam like most HKS's.

Plus, all the HKS filters I've seen have HUGE gaps in the pores of the element, making it too easy to suck in things you don't want sucked in. Injen + K&N all the way (although since everyone has copied K&N's design, I'm sure Injen's filter is sufficient).

i have injen + k&n, n i have nothing bad to say about it. i just have to take it off n clean it, but it beats having to go out n get a new one. i would definitely recommend this set up. i just need a CAE though.

why buy a k&n when the injen already comes with a great filter. spend that $$$ on a cai instead

mmm I read in a magazine, the best intake is made by apex......I think it's called apex super flow or sonething along that line.

Perhaps for Hondas, but tested: Injen works best on our cars. Or so people say... lots of people...

How exactly do you clean the filter btw, and where do you get extra oil for it?
i've never really used either intake...but have u noticed how #### freakin HOT the 240Sx engine gets....i have a 89 SOHC...mines get hella hot and my temp are all normal....so i think the Injen Intake w/ the cold air adapter to it will be better cause the HKS megaflow is suckin in too much hot air....hot ENGINE BAY air...ahhh...my brother he has a HKS mega flow on his 98 Eclipse GS-T and it sounds really nice cause it makes the turbo sounds hella loud....#### one day my 240SX will be as loud as a Skyline..hahaha

k&n sells a cleaning kit to clean and re-oil their filter, it's pretty cheap n i don't think they're 2 hard to find.

Keep in mind that the HKS and Apexi units were designed for the SR20DET - not the KA. A turbo w/ an IC doesn't need a CAI b/c the air will be heated by the turbo, then cooled in the IC before being fed to the engine. As a result, the improvement from a CAI is minimal; Hence, they draw from under the hood. However, an NA motor will benefit from a CAI, like the Injen. Best is relative here.
