So Wolverine did good at the box office and a sequel already has the green light. That'll probably be 2012.

The rest of the movies that are confirmed and being worked on right now are:

Iron man II is set for next year.

The 2011 will be Thor and The First Avenger: Captain America.

Then Avengers in 2012.

You heard any rumor on the possible Deadpool spin-off movie?

I heard about that a while back along with Megneto's which is almost a done deal. But I haven't heard anything recently. And judging by how hated the Deadpool character was in Wolverine I'm not so sure it's a good idea. I mean if they threw everything out the window they did with him in Wolvie then It might not be a bad idea. But he HAS to look like the comic. Don't you agree? I mean Deadpool has one of the coolest comic book costumes ever.

Not only the costume, but also the attitude. I have not seen Ryan Reynolds performance, but I think he could pull off Deadpool's "charm". They just need to realign his character with the actual story a bit, and I think it could be fine. :rawk:

Give me Reynolds' personal trainer from Blade Trinity, and I could have the physique. Along with a couple weeks to brush up on reading the comics and get into character. "ThatDeadpoolGuy" is born, and Hollywood implodes. :D

I guess know one knows my trivia question.

John LeBeau.

Supposedly a moniker for Remmy. Oh well.

Seriously, I'm such a geek. Deadpool is awesome. Reynolds' acting in BTrinity was DEAD-ON as Wade, but they toned him down a lot.

If there is ONE line in the deadpool movie i want him to say, it'd be regarding a costume change. Example-

Weasel = "Why the new dudes? Did Blind-Al wash them in gasoline again?"
Wade = "Earth to Weasel! New costume means another action figure! Now with kung-fu grip!"
Weasel = ".... what?"
Wade = "You can have one too! Here, wear these goggles! ... There ya go! Goggled Weasel! With pencil protector and virginity intact!"

/Scene.

Looks like we started this thread just in time.

IGN: Deadpool Movie Announced (http://movies.ign.com/articles/979/979991p1.html)

UK, May 6, 2009 - Fox today announced another X-Men Origins spin-off, this time based on one of the 'Easter egg' endings that appear at the end of the Wolverine movie.
Depending on which cut of the movie you saw in cinemas, there was both Wolverine and Deadpool postscripts, spoiler-filled descriptions of which can be found here.

And having donned our best investigative journalist hats, IGN was exclusively told this by a source close to Fox about the oft-rumoured feature. "We are developing a spinoff with Deadpool. It is one of the two different "Easter egg" scenes after the credits of Wolverine and hints at two different movies that are coming from them.

As expected, the Deadpool sequel has been greenlit.

"One is the Japan backstory which was announced earlier, the other is about Deadpool. The film, which would be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel, has Ryan Reynolds attached and would be a complete exploration of this unique character - his origins, his emergence as the 'Merc with the Mouth', etc."

The source went on to add that Fox is currently looking for writers for both projects.

Elsewhere, The Hollywood Reporter claims that the movie will go "back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall."

Now lets hope they actually listen to the fans on this one. And give him his costume!

http://movies.ign.com/articles/979/979997p1.html

UK, May 6, 2009 - Kevin Feige, the President of Production at Marvel Studios, has given a timely update about Marvel's upcoming films - namely Thor and The Avengers - to Empire Online.

Regarding Thor, apparently we can expect official cast announcements in the next month. He said: "We're looking to cast Loki and Odin soon, and the main female role. And we'll also hopefully have lockdown shortly, gearing towards the beginning of production, which will be early next year."

Feige also revealed that director Kenneth Branagh is already prepping the movie, and has put together some "spectacular animatics already" for the first action scene.

Director Branagh is already working on the action scenes for Thor.

Meanwhile work has also begun on The Avengers. Feige said: "Zak Penn is already on board The Avengers [as writer] and he's spending a lot of his time looking into what we're doing with Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, seeing how we're tying it all together. And he's beginning to outline the script now - he'll be doing that over the summer."

I am hoping the Easter Egg shows that the baraka bladed, cyclops visioned, stitched mouth monstrosity, was Weapon XI, but not Deadpool. That will make me happy and allow Hollywood to "un-fuck" themselves. Wasn't Weapon XI supposed to be Wolverine's son, Daken?
http://www.marvel.com/comics/onsale/covers/0608/WOLVORIG026.jpg

Now please tell me that they have found someone better to play Captain America then the rumored Seth Rogen. Who, if my research serves me correct, has already co-written the script for "The Green Hornet", with himself in the the lead role.

Seth Rogen is NOT a fucking superhero.

The only sad thing about deadpool is he was created by Rob Liefield... One of the most hated motherfuckers in comics due to his embezelment fraud case back when he was an owner and part ceo of image comics.

And then they let the motherfucker back on the team, LOL the horror. What's sad is I always thought he was such a good artist when I was a kid, until I grew up and started drawing myself, his anatomy was so off and horrible it's not even funny. And all of his characters looked the same in other universes.

I could actually imagine that happening. The begining of Deadpool's movie could show him see weapon XI being killed and him running off.

Then again the question then pops up how does he get disfigured, and healing powers etc.

I don't think any of the actors mentioned here could really fill the role of pre-Captain America and Captain America.

Hell, even in his older age, I think he could pull it off. Check it!

As a teen/preadult, he's given the serum. He gets frozen and is in suspended animation.
His aging is greatly decreased, but still does happen, as he is in homeostasis. He comes back being as American as he was, looking like Willis. But a bit younger.

I HATED their hanging episodes. "Next Time on XMen!" (Some cool new story arc with Avalon). Then, the weekend of the continuing story, it jumps back to when morph gets blasted, and wolverine yells "No!!! Morph!"

While I understand they have to change the movie to make it for the general public certain changes I just don't understand. Juggernaught being a mutant for instance. That I don't understand.

They could have made an entire movie about him IMO. The relationship between him and charles would be a great story.

They did the same thing with Dragonball Z on Toonami. "Next time! The final conclusion to Goku and Freiza's epic battle!" and.... BAM! back to when Raditz arrives. They'd do it over and over again too.

I like it, what I didn't like is the "filler" they put in to make the episodes longer. No one wants to see someone scream for 10 minutes, and then don't fight to 2 episodes later

Update on Thor:

Branagh's Thor Update
Director says the casting search is almost over.
by Jim Vejvoda

May 12, 2009 - Poor Kenneth Branagh really just wants to promote his new PBS telepic series Wallander, but all he keeps getting asked about is Thor.

The Thor director told MTV that, as far as casting goes, "We're down to the final stages of it. ... The reason one has to be properly diplomatic, is simply that some talented peopled have been patient, kind, creative and really committed to working with us in this process."

He added, "All I can say is that I bare all of that in mind with my Thor education. I read a couple of comics across the years every day, I read the Norse legends and sagas, and [the lead role] needs to have something from all that's great in the comics and the legends, and needs to live in our film universe."

Branagh recently informed IGN that Thor will begin filming next January.

Great thread! I must say I use to think about this with friends on if they ever made Marvel characters in to real life cinema..and shit..it happened but with all the new technology and special features, one actor who I wish could still be young and in shape to play "Cable" was Clint Eastwood...he jus has that face and hair. jus my 2 cents

I would also like to see if ever in the wolverine movies coming out I guess. I would like to see one of my favorite episodes from the the X-men animated series incorporated in one of these upcoming movies. It was called "Days Future Past". Where Wolverine was shown aged and sort of a leader of rebel mutants taking out sentinels. And where in the episodes Bishop was introduced and would leap between time.

Chris Hemsworth is Thor | /Film (http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/05/16/chris-hemsworth-is-thor/)

according to the article, chris hemsworth has been cast as Thor for the Thor movie, and more than likely for the Avengers movie as well. his most recent role was as Capt. George Kirk in JJ Abrams' Star Trek. he had a lot of success in Australian TV, and his test footage for Thor supposedly made Kenneth Branagh say, "O... M... G."

One of the bigger hints was that cave scene. Thunder struck, booming lightning. What does Hulk do?

Throw a Rock at it.

There was word from Norton it was a nod at the idea of Hulk having previously fought Thor, or has some knowledge of his existence.

Some good news about Deadpool.

IGN: Deadpool Vs. the Fourth Wall (http://movies.ign.com/articles/100/1001281p1.html)

Deadpool Vs. the Fourth Wall
It will be broken!
by Scott Collura

July 6, 2009 - Ryan Reynolds is talking up his Deadpool movie as usual, and this time he revealed a tidbit that is sure to make fans of the Merc with a Mouth happy: The character will break the fourth wall in the film if Reynolds has anything to say about it.

While promoting The Proposal in London this past weekend, Reynolds responded to a query from Empire on the matter.

"Break the fourth wall? Oh yeah, he's got to," the actor answered. "I want to see him break the Great Wall."

Reynolds added that he is working with studio 20th Century Fox to make sure the film stays true to the comic -- and the fans.

"I'm one of them," he says of satisfying the character's fanbase. "I've always been a fan, at least for the last eight or nine years. I feel a bit of validation because I knew going into Wolverine that there's a huge fanbase for this and I don't think anyone else did."

(P.S. If you don't know what the fourth wall is, go to Wikipedia -- asap! Same goes for the Great Wall.)

I'm sure they could do it flawlessly, but I guess you'd have to really have some understanding of the comics to understand the fact he breaks the 4th wall.

I really hope he does that ActionFigure line. That'd be awesome.

Shit, if i Could, i'd write an amazing script!

Deadpool fighting Black Swan? or was it just Swan? Maybe throw Taskmaster in there for good measure.

Honestly, they could just do his Origins true to the comic, and it'd be awesome.

Then again, Hollywood bastardizes everything.

Deadpool Movie Update
Producer on rebooting the merc with the mouth.
by Jim Vejvoda

October 19, 2009 - Forget about what you saw in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. So says producer Lauren Shuler Donner.

In an interview with Empire Online, the X-Men series producer said her Deadpool spin-off will, as previously reported, reboot the character. "I want to ignore the version of Deadpool that we saw in Wolverine and just start over again. Reboot it," she explained. "Because this guy talks, obviously, and to muzzle him would be insane."

Shuler Donner said she sees no problem with Ryan Reynolds playing both Deadpool and the title role in Green Lantern, citing Harrison Ford as an actor who appeared in multiple franchises at the same time. She also confirmed that Deadpool will break the fourth wall in the movie, as Reynolds himself had previously suggested, although she wasn't too sure how much 20th Century Fox was going to let them get away with.

"It's going to be a dark, snarky, very funny movie. It's the hardest story to tell, I think. There's no clear cut villain - though you do have great baddies from the comic-books like Black Tom, Slayback, Blind Al and the Weasel," she promised, adding, "We're right in the thick of talking to writers right now, and hopefully by November we'll have decided who's going to do it. We need someone really imaginative because we want to do some really innovative, ambitious stuff."
