I'm sure this info is out there I'm just not using the right terms, but any help would be great.

my s13sr starter solenoid is dead, need a new starter. Does anyone know if I can use an s14 ka24de starter? or at least swap the solenoids?

thanks!

not true...

Yes you can swap some parts out of a ka starter to an s13 sr.

You can't use the ka parts if it is an s14/s15 starter.

When my SR starter went out, I had a hell of a time getting an OEM one for a reasonable price.

So here is the exact info you need to rebuild yours.

You will need to find a 1989 or 1990 starter for the KA24E. It HAS to be made by Hitachi. The Mitsubishi one WILL NOT WORK.

I was not able to find one at Autozone but Oreilley's had one.
(Item No: 12149) And it looks like

Take apart your broken SR starter and the new one. The internals are identical. Replace them without screwing with the gearing. Put worn out parts back in the starter you got from Orielleys, and yes, thats right, return it back to the store. Total cost = gas to drive to store and back.

Got this from another forum I am on.
Heres the link.

the clutch/bearing on the driveshaft exploded so I could not do any rebuild options. I got a new one and it's great. Thanks for the input.

How about a FWD SR starter from a manual?
