so i have a 91 coupe that im, i guess u can say refurbishing th einterior...
my whole shpiel is gonna be black, black panels, black s14 seats (front and rear) black MT seatbelts (grey w/e) and to the carpet...

as we all know the s13 from 91 + came with that ridiculous grey sack of shit carpet...ugly fucking thing, original idea was to replace the carpet with a 89-90 black carpet...but, since im running the MT seat belts i wanna get rid of the huge ugly buldges in the back, and then i though, hmm why not run s13 black carpet in the front, cut the rear off and custom make the rear carpet section, but thne i thought, nah itll look like crap,

then i had a thought, i have an s14 im parting out to the bone, it has a clean carpet, all holes line up perfect, itll get rid of th erear AT seatbelt bulges, its just a tad short in the rear but the rear seats cover that gap, and its better condition than what i have...but its grey,

and i can seem to find any help with that...so my thought is to dye the damn thing black, was wondering what kind of experiences u guys have had tryint ot accomplish a dye job on carpet, a how to, different ways to go about it...

no i dont want to spray paint it black with the same shit u use to spray a car...i was considerign a jdm carpet...but the holes for the trunk gas latch would be in the wrong side.

If DJ Khaled had VHT rapping in a music video, it would say "VHT DA BEST."

Theres one thing about dye that scares me.
When youre driving, youre heels are constantly moving back and forth across the floormat/carpet. My shoes get rediculously dirty in the heel just from the dirt in the carpet.

I wear a lot of exspensive shoes and would hate for the black dye to wear off on a pair.

Why not get floormats then? Nismo 350Z floormats fit pretty damn well in the S13 and they're under $30 at WestCo (Don't know if the price is still the same).

Steve, dye the carpet and get some floor mats. Vacuum once in awhile and you'll be set.

I pretty much guarantee you won't like the majority of the aftermarket carpets available for our cars. They won't fit correctly due to improper mold and they feel just feel tacky and cheap. Check out Tu's aftermarket one, it's massive fail all over.

While you guys like VHT, I'd prefer using SEM, they're a far better product line with a lot more industry experience. The price isn't much higher and I've used all their products from leather dye to bumper coaters with excellent success. I've done a few carpets with SEM and it turns out great, just follow the directions and clean it thoroughly before using, you'll be fine. Even after it's dried you can always touch up places later.

Any Idea what would fit S14s? I was looking at the Xterra mats but they don't look like they'd match right.

The 350Z ones fit just as good, but they fit better in an S13. Friend with an S14 actually is the one got them first. They definitely look great with an all black interior.

I used that duplicolor vinyl/fabric paint from autozone/advanced..... Get the flat black, its better than the gloss black. (Gloss black isnt even shiny)

used the same stuff as well. covered my s13 carpet in two cans. a third can would have been nice to just be perfectly covered. i wasnt to worried about areas that wouldnt be seen very well. but two cans did alteast cover the entire carpet. came out clean. let it dry over night and i recommend taking a good brush and brushing it down. the paint tends to clump if you dont shake it well and makes the carpet feel kinda like astro turf if you dont wipe off the clump. otherwise good product, id like to try that SEM brand tho.

clumps are my concern...and i was thinking the exact same thing ...just brush the bitch...how far from the carpet were u spraying from? were u aiming downward or had the carpet up sideways and sprayed straight foward?

all positions. started out on the floor spraying down. then hung it over some stuff so it was almost standing. and spraying about anywhere from 6"-1' away. the clumping is my own fault for rushing and trying to cover everything in one pass. but like i mentioned, just brush it off and its no big deal.

Don't buy that carpet shit. I did and none of the holes were there and it didn't fit at all. And it looked like shit. It was a huge waste of money.
