I have a not so good update. We took the head off last night and came across some issues. There were no ARP washers w/ the head studs and the head was frozen from rust. I took the head to a local machine shop today and was told I needed a complete valve job etc... They were kind enough to walk me through all the head rebuilding process and spend some time pointing out a lot of issues with the head. The Ferrea 1mm valves, dual springs, and retainers were fine. They just needed some cleaning up. It also needed to be resurfaced. I ordered the washers today from ARP and should receive them shortly. We also noticed that cyl 4 had minor rust around the upper wall. So, we are gonna pull the short block out and tear it down. Better to be safe than sorry I guess.

Was the engine built a long time ago (how many miles)? Cant you just go to the shop that built it and say WTF....where are the washers?

The motor was built almost 3yrs ago. It has between 700-1000 miles on it. The problem was that the car sat w/o oil for almost 2yrs. I talked to racingdc9 (former owner) and he said the car went through 2 cometics and 1 stock head gasket in less than a year. (WOAH) .... Maybe one of the two performance shops that worked on the car forgot to put the ARP washers back in ."So now me and the mad scientist are gonna rip apart the block"... and inspect EVERYTHING! LOL

Small update today .... just bought Turbo24sxt's (ka-t.org mod) P-fab turbo mani, and downpipe. I needed something ASAP and Tony came through quick (YOU THE MAN TONY)! Talked to Jens (pronounced Yens) from fuelinjectorclinic.com and my custom FIC fuel rail/ 1650cc BlueMax injectors should be here by next Friday. WOOHOO!! :blue:

Here's were I bought the FIC custom fuel rail/Blue Max injectors.

Here's a info about the injectors. I'll have pics of mine when they come in.

It's a place here in San Antonio called Duffin. They have built some BADA*S race engines. The owner and his brothers even hold a world record at Bonneville salt flats.

will either of your cars make it to a pinks event this year? I remember you talking about going last season iirc.

That was a BIG failure! LOL. I blew way passed the planned budget and kept adding more things. It got to a point when we just couldn't put the car together in time. "I'm no Chip Foose"! LOL

I've been working with Jens (pronounced Yens) from Homepage Fuelinjectorclinic (http://www.fuelinjectorclinic.com) on developing a KA fuel rail and special pricing for us ka-t.org guys. I received the first prototype fuel rail and it's a very nice pc. It will soon be sold as a complete kit or rail only. The rails will be available in anodized colors and are very affordable.

I just wanted to post some pics of my progress ..... My buddy Patrick (in the pic) and I were just finished putting the motor in. We should have the car fired up by Wed/Thurs. We had a little trouble with the upper radiator outlet being in the way of the i/c piping but all has been solved with a civic aluminum radiator. what are the holes in the rear bumper for?

Looks like it'll be a fun car.

The holes were drilled out to copy the JUN hyper lemon silvia (s14 that ran 8's). It's one of those love it or hate it type things. I love it!

SHE RUNS!! I have a few bugs that are currently being worked out. We did a street tune for 10psi and it pulls GREAT! I'll try and have some updated pics for you guys this evening. This turbo spools super quick too (6psi-8psi at 3000rpms). I should be able to get to a dyno this weekend.

Here is a pic that I took today. I still need to go back and clean up the wiring harness/engine bay. I'm waiting on my MSD LS1 coils to run my coil on plug setup.

http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww3/ka_s372/DSC05062.jpg

I would just like to say, this gave me a boner and I didn't even see the whole picture before I hit quote. - om1kron.

wow you hit 6-8 lbs at 3000rpms.my gt35r hits around 6psi at 3000. just wondering why you didnt get the ball bearing one?

The ball bearing version of the PT billet 67/65 was an additional $700-$900 from what I paid for the turbo. It just seemed to be a waste of money to spool 300rpm faster. Especially when the 2.4L ka is a big 4cyl. I'm not too worried about turbo life. When this one dies, I'm probably going water-to-air and putting the BW s372R back on. No more street car ..... but who knows! I freekin LOVE this turbo!

Just thought I'd share a little update .... went to the dyno Saturday only to find out they were double booked! RRRRRRRR

My tuner and I decided to street tune it and the distributor took a dump. It started to break up badly in boost and would lose stat sync on the AEM in low rpms. Then it would not start (stranded on the side of the road wasn't too fun). I figured this out because when you tap on the distributor, it would read stat sync and start right up.

^ You using the stock CAS? The nissan CAS is known for giving trouble with standalone ecus. I think aem makes a trigger wheel that will take the place of the stock one.

With the stock CAS, you will have sync problems iirc.

I have a s13 distributor with the AEM 24 tooth disc just waiting to go in. I also just picked up some rsx type s ignition coils and will be giving them a shot.

why do you have such a small radiator?

I had a problem w/ the intercooler piping hitting the upper radiator outlet on the KOYO. I absolutely LOVE this radiator/FAL fan setup. My car doesn't run past 174 deg during normal driving conditions and is always super cool. I would highly recommend it!

My goal with the new coil on plug setup and twin disk clutch is mid 9's. Looking foward to making 800-850whp @ 40-45psi. I'm still waiting on a few parts to come in. I'm currently in the process of mating a z33 6spd to the KA.

A good friend of mine builds outlaw 10.5 cars and is in the process of making the adapter plate. He's BADASS at what he does. He recently did a 13B to G-Force adapter plate.

I'll give some more details/pics tomorrow. Now, I'll probably pull the short block out and take it to Duffin as well .... delay after delay :violin:

I'm trying to stay positive despite all this engine crap (i wanna put some .357 sig bullets through it from my Glock) .......

Look what came in today from Turbo24sxt! (not the SR20 DP though)

NEW FIC BLUEMAX 1650cc injectors. He can also service ALL your injector needs (cleaning, etc..). Better pricing than Precision Turbo too!

I drilled the factory motor mount brackets to accept the larger 1/2" bolts.

We started on the intake manifold. For now it's tack welded. I still need to make sure everything clears PERFECTLY. I've been debating on going E85 and was thinking about a secondary fuel rail. I'll have some updates when it's complete and polished.

just a little update .... i received the block back from the machine shop on friday. I had them do a complete check from top to bottom and tap for 11mm head studs. a buddy and I will be putting it all back together by tomorrow night. this is going to be a REAL CRAZY week for me as I have a dyno session sat morning to pound on some local v8's saturday night!

The I/C piping has been completed but no pics as of yet.

what are the holes in the rear bumper for?

I also just picked up some rsx type s ignition coils and will be giving them a shot.

and that's that.

There are no more problems with the intercooler piping. I'm switching over to water-to-air after the summer is done.

Thanks for loading all the pics OM1!

Would have been so much better if you would have posted the build here instead of Om1kron having to copy/paste everything for us. Just so lazy.
