noise from transmission? TOB?

i recently got my sr swapped car running and it has a new exedy stage 2 clutch kit. when i depress the clutch pedal it makes a loud hissing type noise, is the best way i can describe it. i understand this to be the throw out bearing? it is brand new! did i install it wrong? are exedy TOB inferior?
any insight to this would be greatly appreciated.
my friend thinks he even saw smoke coming from the transmission area!

the part on the bearing that spins must face the pressure plate and the metal retainer must slide onto the clutch fork. did you clip the retainer sping over the clutch fork pivot ball? you think it could be your gears maybe changing to some high grade tranny oil like amsoil or royal purple may make the noise go away
