There are threads on this, so for future reference you should look around first. If you're low on funds you shouldn't be going turbo. Do a compression and leak down test and if the results are agreeable then you could probably go turbo if you insist. By agreeable, I'm thinking minimum 160 psi compression and something south of 20% leakdown. Someone with more knowledge in that regard could probably chime in. Refer to the links for further reading and an idea of the prices.

just slap a little turbo on there and you should be fine. maybe just change you head gasket to a copper n ull hold boost for a while .
the ka is a strong motor cast iron baby

i say you use a ka as an NA engine the way it was supposed to be. if you want a turbo get an sr. i was in the same boat as you. thats where i got my opinion from. just my .02. good luck with what you decide

Na motors make decent turbo motors too...You get the torque of the Ka, but the puill of a turbo. It's really nice, whereas the SR doesn't have the torque curve of the Ka. (I'm not debating which is a better motor..they're completely different and I don't care who thinks which is better)
Big thing here though. If this 240sx is NOT your daily driver, turbo away. You can get away with spending as low at $800 (obviously with used parts)..maybe even lower. You have to know where to look. A bad thing about truboing cars is that shit always goes wrong here and there which end up costing more money and such.
Of the 4 friends I know 2 of them wish they would have skipped a bunch of headaches and just went SR. Your choice, but looking atthe cost figures if you find a killer deal on an SR it's actually cheaper (Granted you sell your Ka24de since it's worth about $500+)

You don't even need to build it...one of my buddies has a dohc in his S13 running 10 psi on a T28, my other buddy is running 10 psi on a 20G...both stock blocks. My other friend is running 20+ psi but he has a built motor lol. Eventually I'll piece something together with a smaller turbo like a T28.
BIG NOTE: Tuning is EVERYTHING. 2 of my buddies blew their motors trying to tune them...tuned ecu then fine tuning with safc and such. If you have a good tune, no worries.

Hack the KA MAF, get SR injectors, junkyard turbo setup, SAFC, and a wideband and you should be good.
