I did 4 wheel alignment on my car, but i went back because the car keeps on gong toward the right. Now they say i need new tires because i have 4 different tires with bumps on them. Could it be anything else? and since i got the alignment done, there is a very good chance i have no frame damage.. right?

-thanks in advance

actually if it still pulls right after the alignment (IF they did it properly)

then you very well could have some frame damage.

i dont think bald spots on your tires will cause it to pull, you will get a lot of vibration though..at least that's been my expirience with flatspotted tires.

but REreading your post, you are using different tires on EACH wheel? so 4 different brands?
are they all the same size?

more info please!

4 different tires with bumps on them..
wow..
that's some ghetto setup, reminds me of the sir mixalot song

My hooptie rollin', tailpipe draggin'
Heat don't work an' my girl keeps naggin'
Six-nine Buick, deuce keeps rollin'
One hubcap 'cause three got stolen
Bumper shook loose, chrome keeps scrapin'
Mis-matched tires, and my white walls flakin'
...
Hit my brakes, out slid skittles
Tinted back window with a bubble in the middle
Who's car is it? Posse won't say
We all play it off when you look our way
...
Big dice on the mirror, grill like a truck
Lifters tickin', accelerator's stickin'
Somethin' on my left front wheel keeps clickin'
...
Mis-matched tires got my boys uptight
Two Vogues on the left, Uniroyal on the right
...
This bucket ain't rollin' in snow

It's my hooptie

the rear tires are wider than the front, and it came like that when i bought it at the dealer. atleast i took of the chrome looking hubcaps as soon as i got home! trying to make this car un-ghetto as possible. o yeah the tires are all different brand, and it still has tread but there are certain spots with bumps. Can that cause it to pull? They did the alignment computerized and it came out ok.

you need to tell us the SIZES of each tire... if they're different brands but the same size, they should be ALMOST OK... if the two rears are the same and two fronts are the same, you shouldn't be having problems.
I don't know what bumps are on tires, though, I haven't experienced that...
That said, tires are your most important mod... I suggest getting them replaced with quality (read: sticky) pieces.

the new ones are 205s, and the reason it was pulling to the right was because my struts are bad, which are causing bumps on the tires. Now it doesn't pull to the right after i got the new tires.

There were several actual bumps on the tires. I have no idea how it got there. There were still thread left, but there were bald spots and a couple of bumps (dime sized) in the middle of the tires.

sounds like your tires have some blistering.. my bet is whoever owned the car before you probably beat the crap out of it.

Get a set of tires. will make all the difference in the world.

(it appears from your previous post that you have bought all new 205 series tires.. is that so? you fixed your pull? )

I'm havin a similar prob, but all my tires are good and new!

I just took off my blizzack's yesterday, cause its so nice out they're practically melting, but now after having my Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712's put back on, I'm having the same issue I had before I took them off, that I had forgot about. After putting them back on the car is pulling horriblly hard to the right hand side. To make right hand lane changes, I just take my hands off the wheel for 2 seconds. It's actually very dangerous, cause if i take my eye's off the road for more than a second, the car will veer way off course. Now last year when this was happening, I took the car in for an alignment first thing. Car checked out perfectly. Ok...so we swaped the tires around.. Same thing... swaped them around again. Same thing still. Now the tires have been balanced, and properly inflated, and they are pretty much still brand new, and in good shape. The Blizzak's I just had on weren't pulling at all.

Any ideas? It only seems to point that these tires are crap. Does anyone else have these tires? I really don't wanna pay for another alignment after I just had to pay to put these on rims, and it didn't fix the issue last time.. THIS IS DRIVIN ME NUTS!!!!

dephrag:

get an alignment again
check for frame bends.
but MOST likely alignment (as VRT said-probably toe in/out going on in the back)

But would it make sence that the other tires were fine?? or could it be that the blizzak's tread is alot more squared at the egde as oppossed to rounded, maybe keeping it more straight. Does a typical alignment check for frame bends, or how would i go about that. Just last time i did it i wasted $70, cause he said it was fine

you need to go to a better alignment place
i went to sears when my car was stock. if the alignment was within specs, there was no charge. call sears maybe your area has the same thing going on

frame, nah you need to take it to a frame shop $$

could be the tires. maybe the kuhmos are just worn improperly.

70 bucks for an alignment is getting RAPED

i pay no more then $40 and that's for custom setup.

call mom and pop type shops dont go to the big 'tuner' shops
get a small shop who more likely will be on a more personal level as well as a lower cost and possibly more knowledgable for suggestions. the guy i go to is a 1 guy shop and he's been doing alignments for 20some years.

support local businesses.
