Well I got pulled over for emissions about 7 months ago and finally got my car road legal again. The car has had around a 3/4 tank for many of those months and i'd only randomly drive it when I was home on the weekends from college. The battery is obviously dead and I didn't feel like dealing with this until I was sure I could drive it again. My question is, what is the deal with gas that has been sitting that long? I searched and came up with conflicting answers. Some say to top it off with new gas to balance out the old gas, but another place says that is bs. Others say to drain the tanks since the old gas is bad for the motor etc, but wouldn't that mean you have to complete drain the system? Is this in fact bad for the car? Someone please point me in the right direction.
Thanks as always.

Ive had 2 cars sit for a year, no issues. Ran a bottle of chevron through em and good as new.

yeah just put a can of octane booster in it, bleed it out and then filler up!
but there is no "drain" on our tanks, you gotta take the whole rear of the car apart to drop the tank and turn it upside down not to mention removing the fuel pump and madness like that. I dunno about you but...
fuck all that.

all you need to do is put a bottle or 2 of fuel injection cleaner in your tank and you should be fine... for the next couple of fill ups repeat with a bottle
