This is not a motorsport question. Please try "Chat" or "OT".

YES IT IS!!!

DRIFTING (or any car motorsports) IS ABOUT DRIVER NOT CAR!!

i could give you a $20,000 'drift car' and you'd still suck (or be as badass) as you would in a stock car.

its all about YOU not the car!

Learn how to "grip" before you try to drift.

his specific question has nothing to do with motorsports. Motorsports = Organized event, run by officials, with rules, and safety equipment, and away from the general public. If he had asked...

"I'm going to a drift event this weekend, and am wondering if it's possible to drift in a stock 240? What would I need to make my weekend fun, and safe?"

then it would be a motorsports question.

you can drift safely.. just don't do it on the street. Go to a parking lot, and have a blast. Preferably supervised with instructors. Or at an event, with people who can help you if you FLIP, or crash.. being at an ORGANIZED event is what makes it safe.

Dousan. If you asked about drifting, it would be in MS, because you can drift. This question, the wording, the one sentence thread... doesn't belong there.

I think when he said "YES IT IS!" he meant it's possible to drift a stock 240SX.

oops i should quote next time
yeah i was answering his question

i agree it shouldnt be in motorsports w/ a question like that. somthing along sykikchimp would be more suitable.

and yes you can drift safely. that's what it is about. safety, control and traction.

Don't listen to these people! Drifting can only be done after you replace your stuff with JDM muffler bearings, blinker fluid, and intake!

Does drifting REQUIRES a LSD? Can you really drift with no LSD? I remember Dousan said a VLSD is a must for drifting.

dont believe wha ti say. i talk out of my ass most of the time

if you ReALLY want to get serious about drifting you need a LSD of SOME sort. open diff SUCKS.

Of course not!!!!

You would need the greatest Mod of all time... the infamous Altezza taillights! Try to get 3rd Gen Altezzas... they can make you control your drift better than anything else. :D

Dude, I could out 1nt4rw3b d0r1f70 you any day. I gotta HONDA Racing Team sticker on my monitor! Not only that but the Racing Team part is on the little piece that flips down so you can see the monitor controls so I can go all sleeper and make it look like just a honda. Don't mess, you can't get this **** yo.

Anyway, I learned to drift in a Nissan Hardbody, I'm sure you could do it in a 240sx Fastback. As everyone's said, it's all about the driver.

Sorry I keep editting this but I've got crazy ADD. Drifting an '86 Accord.. I guess it's possible but it's gonna require a lot of e-braking. Honestly I don't think you can control an FF set up as well but I've never owned an FF (don't even remember last time I drove one) so don't take my word for it. I'm sure there's someone who can drift 100x better in an FF than I can in an FR.

About an LSD.. it's not a *requirement* but if you want to drift in dry conditions it's going to be a BITCH with an open differential. A viscous type LSD isn't too expensive.. that's my first reccomendation for you to get.

Actually, I only have a real problem with threads over three months old, give or take. I DO wish this thread would die, however. :D

Ok, that's just lazy! When we say 'search!', we don't mean 'go enter something into the search engine, and then post your questions', we mean go search those 421 threads until you find your answer! I can almost guarantee you'll find your answer within the first 10 threads!
