Okay, I was adjusting my camber and I noticed while under my car that there Overdrive Sensor pigtail was broken/cut or fallen off of the sensor.

This is a 1993 Ka24de / Manual transmission car.
The car runs perfectly and I guess it's been disconnected for a long time now.
What is the purpose of this Overdrive Sensor on a 5 speed tranny?
And since it doesn't really effect anything, nor have I noticed any changes for the last 3 years, should I solder it back?

NOTE: There is never any C.E.L, Car runs absolutely perfect on all gears, I dont' even think it really maters to be honest.

not needed you only need Neutural wired up to ECU and Reverse Lights and speed sensor thats all 5th (OVERDRIVE) not needed

You don't even need the neutral switch either.

The 5th gear switch is only used for top speed limiting by noting gear position along with vehicle speed and engine speed. You don't need it.

So basically, when I go about 110miles an hour this sensor is the one that is the Speed Limiter? I remember a few months back I took the car over 100mph and a little after that, the car's speed limiter kicked in.

In relation to my first question, would this removale of the sensor or it's plugs result in a "Speed Limiter" removal?

Or should I just take it on the freeway again at 110mph. :naughty:

120mph. If the ECU reads that and sees it's in 'overdrive', the limiter kicks in. Without it you'll still get the limiter because the VSS is still sending a signal.
