ive read about every single exhaust thread and i see that different people have different meanings of what loud is. some people say the n1 is quiet while some people say its loud, and the same with the hks, some think its quiet but some think its loud
but has anyone here owned BOTH exhausts? if so could you give me your input on this?
this is for the N1 SINGLE and the HKS 65mm for NA
*****on a KA24 NA engine, not turbo

GT Spec is nice. I think the new version uses the N1 canister.

Generally, get the right pipe size for your engine application.
NA engines should use a 60mm to 70mm pipe size.
Turbo engines should use 75mm pipe size and bigger.
If you want quiet exhaust on a KA non turbo engine, get HKS HiPower 65mm pipe size (U.S. spec model)

NA is loud
Boost is quieter. put the same exhaust on both and the turbo car is quieter.

I have owned both.
Both on a twin cam, with test pipes.
They are both quite at part throttle, steady speeds. When you get on it, they make some noise. Exactly how an exhaust should be. I also had a Blitz Nur-spec, and we cut out all resonators, and everything out of, basically just a 3-inch straight pipe. That shit was loud all the time.

thats weird, i always thought bigger diameter meant more noise, i guess thats not always true huh?

I've had the HKS when mine was NA, and tons of friends that had the N1. The HKS sounds better and more mellow in my opinion.

GT Spec..you won't be sorry. And, you'll have room to grow. I had it on a KA and I now have it on my LS1. I'll be using it on a VQ soon as well. Don't waste your time with anything else unless you just don't like the look of it (in that case go Dual N1).

N1 cannister is smaller. Better ground clearance

I have had GT Spec, Apexi N-1, and HKS Hi-power, I liked the Hi-power the best, it had the cleanest sound, but then again it was on a RB car. My second favorite is the GT Spec, sounds awsome, but has ground clearance issues, I actually still have the GT-Spec muffler laying around somewhere haha. The N-1 is just whatever, sounds like every other exhaust to me, its cool and all but I'd assume buy an ebay one rather than spend the money on the real thing again.

im thinking of getting the HKS HiPower SILENT now
but then its special order only so i dont know if i want to pay that much more
its supposed to be 75mm made for the SR20 (which is 10mm more than the 65mm regular HiPower for the KA24) (I have a KA)
has anyone ever owned this?

Get whichever...if its too loud for you, silence (less noise) is only a silencer away...
Thats the beauty of Blitz Nur-spec when I got it and I still had my KA. Slap the silencer and it was zen...
