Which one would give a thief a harder time?

If someone really wants your wheels, they will get your wheels. But, I do know that Gorilla only has a few keys that you can order online. So, that is not really that secure. Mcgard I have never used so can't give you any feedback on those.

good point

if your really paranoid about it just get them both and mix match
so the thief needs two master key, which will discourage him to jack it or
take longer or even more insane, get all 4 or 5
different wheel locks..... now that's omega paranoid

Problem with that approach is that the first time u have to change a flat tire you'll hate yourself for it. Also, I have gorilla but all anyone needs to do is put a scket one size smaller on the lugnut and they won't need a key.

nothing will stop your wheels from getting stolen.

dont want your wheels getting stolen, leave them stock.

dont want to leave them stock, garage your car. its pointless to modify a car without having good secure place to put it.

think of it like this, when you buy mods for your car its like giving a stripper money.. but instead of dollars its usually hundreds. i know a nice set of volks dont cost tens and twenties, more like 20 hundreds.

so now you own this stripper with 10,000 ... 20,000 ... 30,000 of modifications? all hanging nicely on her garter belt, which some of you may feel is safe to park outside.

yeah, think again. the more you mod your car, the more tempting it is for any and everyone to steal it.

put your stripper in a garage.

McGard - used them for a while and had the pleasure of loosing the key and trying to get them off, lots of fun and took a while, good stuff.

The worst is not having them stolen, it is when they cannot steal it and damage them...

Wrong. I got a stripper a simple franklin, and months later she ended up housing me, servicing me 6 times a day, paying for 1/2 my car and almost delivering 2 of my(?) children. Then I found her stash and upon exiting I was able to survive for a year on the run. Aside from the daily tear drops and cuts on my wrists I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Like stated above, all my wheel locks can be undone with just a smaller socket wrench. If you have them at some extreme torque, then you can pray they round off on the improper socket.

-park in a garage
-park under motion lights

I have McGard on my Lexus and have had no problems with em. I know some Lexus guys just used McGard locks for all their lugs on their cars. Haven't heard any complaints thus far from any of them.

Security I don't believe you are much safer with either

But the mcgard spline drives are superior lug nuts

no, mister t has stopped wearing chains for many years now. not sure if it had to do with his battle against cancer or hurricane katrina, but i couldve sworn i heard him say he stopped wearing it after seeing what happens to folks effected by katrina.

so yes, good analogy. :-)

im too much of a mister t fan

Man i live in an Apartment and keep my car mostly stock looking, but its hard not to modify it. So i stored all the aftermarket parts in my room and hopefully one day i'll get a house...... (yea right)

Garage and don't drive it anywhere public unless you're going to sit right by it the entire time.

Seriously.

Speaking on the Mcgards if the person were to attempt to drill them out would they have a hard time being that they're steel? I keep my car next to my window so im wondering if I'd hear them drilling. Also, I understand that lug nuts aren't the end all when its comes to security and that they add very little if any. This is why im leaning towards the mcgard because they arent a hex design but have a narrow key pattern so if you dont have the key I'd imagine you'd have a harder time taking them off.

buy a good air compressor for air bags, and then buy a train horn, buy a tilt sensor for your alarm so that if the car is jacked up it will go off, then connect the train horn to the alarm, anyone within 10 miles will hear it go off and if they still get your wheels you get the satisfaction of knowing they went deaf in the process

they dont drill the lugnuts out, they hammer sockets onto them and remove them

anything with the street tuner style lug nut is CRAP.. easy as fuck to get off and the key itself can be found ANYWHERE.

you need a lock that.. if you lose the key you are fucked

buy yourself a nice set of wheel locks
Gorilla Automotive Products - Lug Nuts, Wheel Locks, Auto Security, Wheel Accessories (http://www.gorilla-auto.com/the.system.new.box)

every lug nut is a locking one, on top of that the keys provided can not be found readily. In my case the lugs are large enough simply using an oversized socket over the top will not work.

sum up: street tuner locking lug nuts suck.. easy to remove with an oversized socket + hammer.

I currently have gorilla nuts on my car though im not sure if they're those exact ones

Edit: Actually those are different and appear to be better than the ones I have. They have some nice ones on their site thanks

that is the exact same wheel locks that i have, but I only have 4 (1 per wheel) - it seems it would be difficult for someone to use any size socket to get them out.. i recommend those as well..

that gorilla system is bullshit too...

like i said, nothing a smaller socket wont remove.

the only thing i can say GOOD about mcgaurd OR gorilla (as ive used both) is that they are made from very high quality metal. not only does the chrome stay chrome and never flake off, but when hammering a socket onto them (when being stolen) they will typically damage the socket due to their hardness. if they are using very high quality sockets (craftsman or snap on) it will be better, but man.. sucks damaging a snap on socket in order to steal a wheel.

though, they could also use lugnut extracting tool.. which pretty much does the same thing.

so like i said earlier, youre pretty much always fucked... dont bother. i have gorilla tuner lugs and they are FINE.
