Did a five speed swap less than a week ago, pulled everything back off and found this.

Any ideas?

an auto tranny has a longer pilot bushing than the manual tranny pilot bushing. that may be the cause

Yeah. I removed the auto one and put the manual one in.

You did the swap on KA, right?
Believe it or not, there are two different versions of pilot bushings. I didn't it believe it first, but it's true. I wonder if that caused your problem or not.

Anyone? It's back together and when I decelerate in gear, it makes a terrible rubbing type of noise coming from the tranny. I'm thinking maybe the input shaft has too much play in it possibly? It seemed to have very little play when I checked it but under load maybe it is worse?

Did you soak the pilot bushing in oil before you installed it?
