I want to replace my cigarette lighter with a switch that takes up the same space. I know the "Engine Start" buttons fit nicely. But, they are momentary switches. I would like a Push on/off. Anyone found anything this size?

I got my Apexi ECV lever hooked up thru the lighter, fits perfectly in there. As far as electrical switch, cant recall seeing something that big, atleast not automotive.

Why not make a panel with a switch or 2 in it?

Cause I want something that cleanly fills my cigarette lighter hole and serves a function.

Reading is fundamental. Want a on/off switch not a momentary button.

I see your reality and substitute my own.

you can probably find some stuff if you switch up your search.

start looking at websites that sell PC mods and shit.

they prob have some nerdy tricked out on/off button to power PC motherboards on and off. probably simlilar size to that cigarette lighter hole.

serach for like "pc mod power buttonz!" or something like that.

it's all 12 volts no?

Yeah, been looking at multiple 12v sources. PC power on buttons are momentary unfortunately.

From "Wiki":
Receptacle inside diameter: 20.93 mm to 21.01 mm (median 20.97 mm)
3rd Switch down on this page:
Wire Terminals, Automotive Wire, Battery Terminals & Electrical Supplies (http://www.wiringproducts.com/index1.html)
"Recommended hole size 0.79 inches."
http://www.wiringproducts.com/contents/media/ill_round_rocker.jpg

0.79 inches ~ 20.065 mm

Looks close enough to work to me. Might need a little tweaking to be perfect.

It's not a push button, but it is a round rocker that may work for your application.

Those game ones are "Momentary-action" but, there are some On/Off's on that page.

Do I need to reenable last edited notes for the mod staff? :squintd::squintd::squintd:

Go here and they have 22mm and 30mm and you can chose from push/pull buttons, or selector switches.
http://products.geindustrial.com/IndustrialProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=PRODUCTFAMILYINTERMEDIATE&PRODUCT_FAMILY=Push%20Buttons%20~%20Pilot%20Device s&CATALOG=ED&segment=null (http://products.geindustrial.com/IndustrialProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=PRODUCTFAMILYINTERMEDIATE&PRODUCT_FAMILY=Push%20Buttons%20%7E%20Pilot%20Devi ces&CATALOG=ED&segment=null)
http://www.geindustrial.com/images/products/pb-cr104.gif
and it will take to to the button configuration and you can chose finish, button color, illumination or none, what type of button (flush, mushroom type, extended)
and for the selector ones you can select from 2, 3, or 4 position, illumination etc, and even key operated ones.
These are heavy duty and I have ordered them to put together fuse boxes and power supply panels and such.
Some can get into the $40 price range but are great quality and have a ton of configurations you can choose from to suit your needs.

sweet, some people don't like a bunch of switches, and some think a bunch of switches are rice. I don't think so as long as the serve a purpose.
I made the panel and everything and got a decent looking panel.
